2. Secret Player Diagnostic HUD ("Stats for Nerds")

During video playback, click the Tuning slider icon (🎛️) in the playback bar to open the Secret Player HUD.

The HUD is organized into 4 diagnostic and calibration panes:

1. Stats for Nerds (chart.xyaxis.line)

  • Real-Time Framerate: Current FPS and dropped frame counters.
  • Hardware Decoder: Confirms whether Apple Silicon VideoToolbox (videotoolbox-copy) is actively decoding the stream.
  • Demuxer Cache Health: Live measurement of audio/video buffer lead time (in seconds and megabytes).
  • Stream Bitrate & Dimensions: Exact incoming bitrate, codec profile, audio sample rate, and container format.

2. Subtitles Calibration (captions.bubble.fill)

  • Subtitle Delay Adjustment: Fine-tune subtitle timing in seconds or milliseconds (e.g. +250ms or -500ms) to eliminate lip-sync drift.
  • Font Scaling: Dynamically increase or decrease subtitle font size on screen.
  • Vertical Positioning: Move subtitles higher or lower to avoid letterbox bars.

3. Audio Sync & Boost (waveform)

  • A/V Sync Offset: Correct delayed audio tracks by adding or subtracting millisecond offsets.
  • Dialogue Normalization: Boost vocal frequencies in quiet dialogue scenes while clamping explosive action sequences.
  • Volume Boost: Amplify quiet audio tracks up to +200%.

4. Video Filters & Shaders (slider.horizontal.3)

  • Deband Shader: Eliminates color banding and compression artifacts in dark scenes.
  • Aspect Ratio Overrides: Switch between 16:9, 21:9 (ultrawide anamorphic), 4:3, or stretch-to-fit.
  • Color Grading: Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and gamma curves directly on the GPU.
