A coherent story. The keeper’s papers, the gardener’s slate, the drowned score, the seal, the journal, hints, act titles and the ending now tell one story. Elias Vale left his evening rounds unfinished on the night Mara, the gardener, was lost, and the house has kept that rainy evening ever since. Finishing his rounds lets it end. The handwritten letters on the desks print exactly the text you read, and the builder refuses to ship them out of step.

A quieter interface. The permanent controls and chapter labels are gone; each act is announced once as it begins. Letters appear on paper in the keeper’s handwriting, the slate in chalk, the score and seal in bronze. The journal keeps the rounds, every page you have read, and optional hints. Settings are grouped, with separate volume and music controls. Interaction prompts show the keys to press.

New sound and music. An original score for piano, harp and strings answers each finished round and gives way whenever the bells must be heard. Rain falls on the vault until the light comes home; the sea, wind, water and the brass and stone mechanisms are heard where they are. The four bells are retuned handbells that keep their exact pitches, and the written score remains. Footsteps, small metal sounds and paper are adapted from Kenney’s CC0 packs; everything else was made for Haze. Every sound’s source and licence ships in Credits.

Fixes. On macOS, a visit saved before the Haze rename is found again (and left untouched). The keeper’s seal no longer has an invisible collision dome around its foot. The ending turns toward the tree Mara planted.

This preview includes complete Windows x64, macOS universal and Linux x64 players, launch instructions, credits, SHA-256 checksums and a new 42-second native trailer.

The complete native Mac and Omarchy walkthroughs each passed 690 checks, with zero failures and runtime errors; Metal and Linux OpenGL environment runs each passed 195 checks. Each walkthrough now records the live mix at the listener and checks it: no clipping, footsteps that stand out, music that steps back for the bells, tuned bells, a silent mute. Native screenshots were reviewed, and the recordings were measured and inspected as spectrograms. Full results appear in VALIDATION.md on the repository; archive hashes and platform status are in the release manifest.

Windows runtime remains unverified. Intel Mac runtime is also unverified. The Mac app is ad-hoc signed and is not Apple-notarized; Windows is unsigned. Existing visits and preferences remain compatible.

Haze 0.3.2 — lamps, letters and brass details

The wall lights and smaller lanterns now have fitted brasswork, modeled fasteners, fluted opal glass, and softer warm white lighting. The earlier orange cast is reduced, and separate texture and emission maps retain the glass surface in its glow. Opposite-wall fittings keep separate meshes with the correct orientation.

Both keeper notes now use thin folded paper, visible fibers, full handwriting, folded envelopes, and irregular wax seals with recessed stamps. The brass manifold discs have machined bevels, central fixings, and raised keeper crests. The small story indicators have textured domed glass in fitted brass bezels.

This preview includes the complete Windows x64, macOS universal, and Linux x64 players, launch instructions, credits, SHA-256 checksums, and a fresh 42-second native game trailer. The GitHub README links to the film and includes an animated preview.

The complete native Mac and Omarchy walkthroughs each passed 589 checks, with zero failures and runtime errors. Metal and Linux OpenGL environment runs each passed 195 checks. Native screenshots were inspected, including close views of the new props in morning and evening light.

Haze 0.3.1 — supported entrance and fanlight ironwork

The entrance grille now bears on a continuous stone threshold and follows a fitted iron arch. Twenty-three uprights sit in lead-set shoes, with horizontal ties, recessed jamb stiles, and stone anchors. Mortar bedding closes the gaps between the arch stones.

The garden fanlight now has a fixed bronze transom anchored into both stone jambs. Its fifteen uprights join the transom and the arch, so opening the garden doors leaves the fanlight supported.

Trailer

Watch or download the recaptured 42-second trailer. It shows the repaired native game at 1080p, with Haze's own ambience and bells. The README includes an animated preview and a new entrance screenshot.

Download and play

Choose your platform under Assets, extract the complete archive, and follow its included README.

  • Windows x64: open Haze.exe. Built and package-checked; runtime unverified, as no Windows test machine was available.
  • macOS universal: open Haze.app. Verified on Apple Silicon; Intel runtime unverified. The app is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized.
  • Linux x64: run ./play.sh. Verified on Omarchy with Vulkan; the OpenGL environment check also passed. Use ./play.sh -force-glcore for that fallback.

Replacing the game folder preserves your existing visit. The tested Linux version is also installed on Omarchy. Each platform download is approximately 1.2 GB.

Both full native walkthroughs passed 519 checks with zero failures or runtime errors. The Metal and OpenGL environment checks each passed 125 checks. All 80 checks of the repaired portal ironwork also passed in the saved scene. See the measured frame times and verification details.

The downloads include credits and checksums. SHA256SUMS and release-manifest.json cover all three complete players and the full trailer. The earlier 0.3.0 and 0.2.0 releases remain available.

Haze 0.3.0 — stonework, coastal planting, and a trailer

The bathhouse window ironwork now bears on dressed stone coping above continuous masonry and wider foundation courses. Recessed mortar, worn edges, and an outward fall on the coping make the lower wall read as a complete assembly.

The coastal banks have more photographed grasses, sorrel, moss, dandelions, weeds, and ferns, with scattered fallen leaves and branch debris. Plant roots follow the actual terrain surface, and lighter distant meshes retain the planting density.

Trailer

Watch or download the 42-second trailer. It uses footage from the updated native game at 1080p, with Haze's own ambience and bells. The README includes an animated preview.
