Peer Pressure has a built in settings application that can be accessed by pressing the guide button on the controller, navigating to the Settings tab, and selecting the "Softmod Settings" option.

Boot Animation

The boot animation menu has various settings to customize the boot animation behavior. Here you can select between the blades era boot animation, the 17559 boot animation, or a custom boot animation. You can also use the boot animation theme editor to customize the colors for the blades era boot animation.

If you choose to use a custom boot animation peer pressure will try to load customboot.xex from the Hdd1:\PeerPressure\System folder on the HDD. This xex file must be a title dll and have the same DLL exports as the real bootanim.xex or it'll fail to load.

Dashboard

The dashboard tab has settings for choosing your homebrew dashboard which the console will automatically boot to any time it would normally boot to the MS dashboard. After setting your homebrew dashboard path the name of the executable file will be used to fill the homebrew dashboard option in the Xbox guide. For example, if your homebrew dashboard file is named Aurora.xex the homebrew dashboard button will have the text "Aurora Home".

Any options in the guide that say "Xbox Home" will always bring you to the MS dashboard so you can easily access both your homebrew dashboard and the MS dashboard.

System

The system menu has options to display various system info, configure auto updates, startup behavior, and disable the NAND write protection mechanism.

Auto Update

The auto update menu can be used to enable or disable checking for auto updates. This menu will can also be used to manually check for updates and if found will give you options to download and install them.

Startup

This menu can be used to change the system behavior when booting the console via the eject button. This can be customized to boot xell, or another xell-based OS on startup when booting via the eject button. To configure the Other OS options you'll need to setup the boot.ini file located in the Hdd1:\PeerPressure\OtherOS folder. Please see the ini file for more information on how to configure it.

Note that the softmod installer comes pre-bundled with a version of xell in the softmod extras folder. You can install it by running the softmod installer, selecting "Install Softmod", checking the "Install Extras" option, checking "Xell", and then selecting "Extras Only" at the bottom of the list.

NAND Protection

Peer Pressure has a built in NAND protection mechanism to prevent accidental writes to the console's NAND image outside of normal system configuration files. In order for your console to boot it MUST have a valid, unmodified boot chain and system files. You CANNOT install hacked bootloaders or system files into your console's NAND or it'll no longer boot in ANY mode and you'll need a hardware NAND flash to recover.

For advanced users who understand the risks of modifying the console's NAND image you can temporarily disable this protection mechanism until the next reboot by toggling the checkbox on the "Write Protection" setting in the NAND Protection menu.
