Updating Peer Pressure

Ryan Miceli edited this page Oct 7, 2026 · 3 revisions

Peer pressure has an auto update system that will check for new versions on startup or when in the System page of the softmod settings app. You can also disable the auto updates check on startup in the softmod settings app. If you have the option enabled (enabled by default) peer pressure will check for a new version as soon as an internet connection is available. However, you most likely won't get the update notification until the next time you launch a game/app/executable. This is partially done to not interrupt any game sessions but will be improved in the future so that auto update notifications will be shown when loading the dashboard on startup.

If an update is available and you click the message box to install you will be brought to the softmod settings app. Here it will show you a change log for the update and you can download and install it. These updates are pulled right from the github releases page for this project.

Offline Updates

If your console is not connected to the internet you can still perform an offline update by downloading the UpdateData.zip file from the latest release, and placing it in a folder called "$SoftmodUpdate" on a FAT32 formatted USB stick (ex: USB:\$SoftmodUpdate\UpdateData.zip). The next time you turn the console on with the USB stick inserted you should get a prompt after the boot animation to install the update.
