The Sidebar is composed of four parts:
- A small toolbar of five buttons:
- Clear stack button: pressing this will empty the selected folder
- Clear on exit button: if turned on, the folder will be emptied when Firefox is closed
- Remove on view button: if turned on, the item will be removed when you view it (does not apply to folders or livemarks)
- Middle-click to add item button: if turned on, you can middle-click (with ctrl/meta if set in preferences) to add a link to the queue
- Select filters button: A dropdown letting you show or hide the items in the next group
- Filters:
- Select folder dropdown: lets you choose the active bookmarks folder to act as your queue
- Search form: lets you type in text to show matching bookmarks in the current queue
- Sort dropdowns: lets you sort by name, location, or time that the items were added
The second dropdown lets you sort by ascending (A > Z or old to new for time added) or descending order; if unsorted is selected, it will show you the order you placed items in the queue (you can rearrange them via drag and drop, or by cutting/pasting them by right-clicking with your mouse and selecting cut/paste)
- The current folder's items (optionally filtered as above)
- The status bar indicating how many items are in the current folder
The Sidebar has a context menu for items. The menu's items depend on how many items are selected and what the items are. For example, if multiple items are selected you cannot directly edit their properties or open them all in the current tab.
Multiple selection is available via keyboard only (due to the single-click activation the items have). You can select multiple items by holding shift and using the arrow keys, or you can select non-contiguous items by holding ctrl and using the arrow keys to focus the next item to select. Pressing space will toggle selection of the currently-focused item.
