Brewing Tools
The Brewing Tools area is a set of calculators built specifically for mead. Unlike a generic calculator, each adds context, explanations and warnings where a number can mislead.

- ABV estimator — alcohol from original and final gravity.
- Honey for target gravity — how much honey to reach a target OG at your volume (≈ 292 gravity points per kg of honey in water, adjusted for your batch).
- Hydrometer temperature correction — corrects a reading taken warm or cold to the calibration temperature.
- SG ↔ Brix — convert between specific gravity and Brix (refractometer) scales.
- Yeast pitch — how much yeast for a healthy pitch at your volume and gravity.
The TOSNA 2.0 scheduler builds a staggered organic nutrient plan. It scales the target YAN by the yeast's nitrogen demand and by honey darkness (darker honeys carry more of their own nutrients), splits the dose across the standard additions up to the 1/3 sugar break, and explains that point. It warns when you've selected a product that doesn't suit the chosen protocol — for example, running a pre-blended DAP-containing sachet on an organic-only TOSNA schedule.
See Libraries → Nutrients for the products and protocols themselves.
- Free SO₂ / sulfite — a molecular-SO₂ model that turns a target free-SO₂ level (at your pH) into a potassium-metabisulfite dose.
- Acid / TA adjustment — adjust titratable acidity up or down.
- Backsweetening & stabilisation — work out a sweetening addition and the sorbate + metabisulfite needed to hold it. (Always stabilise with both before backsweetening a still mead.)
- Carbonation / priming sugar — turn a target CO₂ volume into a priming-sugar dose, with a per-bottle amount and a bottle-pressure safety warning so you don't over-prime and risk bottle bombs.
- Blending — combine two meads (or dilute with water) and see the resulting gravity, ABV and volume.
- Sanitiser & cleaner dosing — doses for Chemipro SAN or Star San (and the matching cleaner), following the sanitiser you chose in Settings.
- Libraries — the honey, yeast and nutrient data several tools draw on
- Batches & Fermentation — where the readings get logged
