Quick capture is for household thoughts that should not get lost. Activity shows what changed recently.
Use quick capture when someone needs to save a note fast and decide later what it becomes.
A captured note can stay in the inbox or become:
- a task
- a shopping item
- a kept household note
Home Assistant can also send quick-capture notes through the integration package.
The activity feed gives the household a recent-history view across useful changes such as calendar, tasks, shopping, birthdays, quick capture, and integration-triggered events.
Use it when you want to answer:
- what changed today?
- who added this?
- did the Home Assistant/webhook action arrive?
- what was recently completed or updated?
Activity is household context. Do not put secrets, credentials, or private URLs into item titles or notes. When asking for help, redact family names and personal details from screenshots.
- Confirm you selected the intended destination.
- Confirm your user has permission to create that item type.
- If using Home Assistant, confirm the token has
quick_capture:write.
- Make a new calendar, task, shopping, or quick-capture change.
- Refresh the activity view.
- Confirm you are in the correct family.
