Why Solarized is bad
As much praise as there is for the Solarized theme online, the truth is I lament ever having installed anything that had anything to do with this theme.
Clearly this is designed for some guy who owns a [Mac](Oh you got a Mac how cute) for his other Mac user friends. As for me, I still find myself squinting to see what comments and some code say.
Ethan Schoonover, the creator of this pastel theme which no contrast can be adjusted on it because everything is hidden in a shroud of teal (which is sad because I like teal), doesn't provide any instructions on how to adjust this. It's like Ubuntu's Tango theme that screws up the color scheme in that too.
I was even foolish enough to xrdb solarized for some other project that would apply the solarized theme to URXVT. Fortunately, this guy has an .Xresources file that I can use to undo this damage and maybe try out a few other themes.
The whole point: I like using a black background, that is slightly transparent that uses the usual colors used for any UNIX or Linux system such that my ASCII art doesn't hid in the background.
In Rigel, you will see that it's OK to have 256 colors, but don't mess with the Original 16 for matters like this.
