RK Firmware Updater 0.1.9
Release 0.1.9 is the corrected cross-platform release for the GCC/upstream-C++ work introduced in 0.1.8.
Highlights:
- Keeps the C++ rkdeveloptool sources aligned with the upstream implementation used by the GUI wrapper.
- Keeps the macOS build on Homebrew GCC / g++-15 instead of Apple Clang.
- Fixes the Windows MinGW release build by relaxing the unused-variable warning for the upstream C++ code path.
- Ships the new C++ unit test target through make cxx-test and make check.
- Keeps GitHub Actions running make check before the GUI tests.
- Includes the documentation updates for GCC builds, make gui recompilation behavior, and C++ test coverage.
- Bumps the application and configuration release version to 0.1.9.
This release supersedes v0.1.8 because v0.1.8 did not produce Windows installer assets.
Packages are attached for macOS arm64, Windows, Linux x64, Linux arm64, Debian/Ubuntu packages, and RPM. The macOS build is ad hoc signed unless Apple notarization secrets are configured, so macOS may show a first-launch security warning.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.8
Release 0.1.8 focuses on restoring the C++ command-line tool to the upstream rkdeveloptool implementation and building it with GCC on macOS.
Highlights:
- Realigns the copied C++ rkdeveloptool sources with the upstream / rockchip-linux rkdeveloptool code used by the GUI wrapper.
- Removes the local C++ changes that had been made to satisfy Apple Clang.
- Updates the macOS build path to install Homebrew GCC and configure with g++-15 instead of Apple Clang.
- Adds configure-time checks that reject Apple Clang for the upstream C++ sources on macOS.
- Adds C++ unit tests for deterministic rkdeveloptool parser and helper logic.
- Adds make cxx-test and wires make check to run the C++ unit tests.
- Updates CI to run make check before the GUI test suite.
- Updates README, GUI README, and contributor documentation for GCC builds and C++ tests.
Known issue:
- The Windows release workflow failed for this tag, so Windows installer assets are not attached to v0.1.8. Use v0.1.9 for the complete cross-platform release with Windows, macOS, and Linux packages.
Packages are attached for macOS arm64, Linux x64, Linux arm64, Debian/Ubuntu packages, and RPM. The macOS build is ad hoc signed unless Apple notarization secrets are configured, so macOS may show a first-launch security warning.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.7
Release 0.1.7 focuses on firmware image selection and safer configuration compatibility.
Highlights:
- Adds an Image version dropdown with the RunCam WiFiLink GS menu fix image selected by default.
- Keeps the OpenIPC buildroot snapshot image available as an alternate online image choice.
- Adds releaseVersion to the JSON configuration so imported settings can be migrated safely between releases.
- Converts legacy parameter files during import and shows a conversion message before applying the updated format.
- Preserves imported image choices so older configurations do not silently switch to a different image source.
- Adds validation and fixture coverage for legacy valid, current valid, legacy invalid, and current invalid configuration files.
- Updates the user guide and configuration reference for the new image choices and parameter import behavior.
Packages are attached for macOS arm64, Windows, Linux x64, Linux arm64, Debian/Ubuntu packages, and RPM. The macOS build is ad hoc signed unless Apple notarization secrets are configured, so macOS may show a first-launch security warning.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.6
Release 0.1.6 focuses on the safer tabbed GUI workflow and clearer flashing state.
Highlights:
- Adds the left navigation with Flash and Parameters tabs.
- Adds the Parameters JSON editor with load, export, reset, and apply actions.
- Improves simulation mode so downloads, loader loading, image flashing, reboot, disconnect, and reconnect are simulated.
- Checks device presence before flashing and after reboot.
- Disables flash actions after a successful reboot until Connect device detects a receiver again.
- Moves the global progress bar above the Maskrom loader and image controls.
- Keeps the reboot prompt gated on complete progress and idle download/flash/tool state.
Packages are attached for macOS arm64, Windows, Linux x64, Linux arm64, Debian/Ubuntu packages, and RPM. The macOS build is ad hoc signed unless Apple notarization secrets are configured, so macOS may show a first-launch security warning.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.5
Major usability and safety update for RK Firmware Updater.\n\nHighlights:\n- New Betaflight-style left navigation with Flash and Parameters tabs.\n- New Parameters view with full JSON configuration editor.\n- Load external configuration JSON, export the current JSON, apply changes, and reset to packaged defaults.\n- Improved global progress handling: online loader/image workflows now map download and flash phases across the full progress bar.\n- Simulation mode now uses the same global progress mapping as real flashing.\n- Reboot behavior is safer and only blocked during actual flash commands.\n- Downloads and flash failures now stop the workflow immediately with clearer user-facing errors.\n- Added rollback tests for interrupted network downloads so partial update files are not kept.\n- Additional tests for Parameters actions, failure handling, and UI layout.\n\nArtifacts for macOS, Windows, and Linux are uploaded automatically by GitHub Actions after the release workflows complete.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.4
Ad hoc signed macOS release. macOS may show a security warning on first launch.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.3
Bug-fix release for the OpenIPC / RunCam WiFiLink RX flashing GUI.
Changes since v0.1.2:
- Shows the selected Maskrom loader in the confirmation dialog before flashing.
- Allows full-image flashing to continue after a successful Maskrom loader load, even if rkdeveloptool ld still reports Maskrom.
- Adds a configurable 2 second delay between consecutive rkdeveloptool commands to give the USB device time to settle.
- Keeps the selected image source when using Flash full image, so local image files are no longer replaced by the configured GitHub image.
- Improves tests for command sequencing and the flashing flow.
This v0.1.3 release was refreshed after the local-image source fix; release assets are overwritten by the automated macOS, Windows, and Linux workflows.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.2
Improves the no-device startup flow for RunCam WiFiLink RX and OpenIPC ground stations.
Adds a visual flash-button guide, a Try again action so users can rescan without restarting the app, and a more compact macOS dialog layout with reachable action buttons.
RK Firmware Updater 0.1.1
Maintenance release for the cross-platform Electron GUI
Highlights:
- Prevents closing the app during flash operations
- Avoids hashing large local files in simulation mode
- Adds a User guide button that opens the online guide
- Shows custom configuration warnings and active source hosts before flashing
- Adds configurable long network timeouts
- Improves rkdeveloptool diagnostics, device parsing, and no-device detection
- Expands automated tests to 55 checks, including the online guide link
