Characters ‐ Searching

One of the main features of the mod allows you to search for characters from other universes using a Parachronic Computer Array. This is a way to bring characters to your colony through a balanced, gameplay-integrated system. If you somehow just want to materialize characters directly without all that hassle, you can always use provided development mode commands.

Requirements

  • A built parachronic computer array.
  • A built parachronic tracking system.
  • Sufficient power supply.
    • Power must be maintained during the search. If not, the progress will be lost.
  • A colonist as the operator.
    • Must be capable of intellectual.

How to search for a character

  • Select the parachronic tracking system.
  • In the building’s command bar, select "Search for character". You will be prompted to select a colonist to make the search request.
    • Alternatively, you can select a colonist, right-click the tracking system, and order the search through the usual float menu.
  • Define the search criteria in the window that opens up.
  • Click "Start search" to begin.

Search progress

The search task is assigned to the parachronic computer array. Progress can be monitored by selecting it, and it is gained continuously over time, displayed as a percentage and a rough amount of time left. The task is costly and can take several in-game days.

Search results

When a character is found, a notification letter appears. It shows information about the character, such as its name, universe of origin and archetypes. The search could also be unsuccessful, due to the criteria being too strict, or because there are no more characters to discover. A letter is shown in that case too.

Regarding search criteria

Search criteria lets you specify characteristics about the desired character, so you can find the character you want more easily. Sex, home universe, traits and archetypes are among the available criteria for the player.

But you have to take into account that criteria are a double-edged sword. While adding these will make the search process shorter, being too strict could result in unsuccessful searches if no character matches with the criteria.
