Tool Instance

Definition:

A specific, physical realization of a tool assembly or tool item.

Examples:

  • The actual face mill sitting in station T07 on your machine.
  • The same assembly used on two different machines = two instances.

Notes:

Has tracking attributes like serial number, RFID, tool life, wear, and usage history.

Connects the digital definition to reality (inventory, tool crib, presetting device).
