History and Credits

Smart! has a long history in the Satisfactory modding community.

Short History

Smart! began as an original building-assist mod by Alex. It became one of the defining factory-building mods for Satisfactory because it made large repeated builds much easier: grids, manifolds, scaling, extending, and precision placement all became part of the Smart! identity.

The Unreal Engine 5 transition for Satisfactory broke many older mod systems, including the original Smart! codebase. The current Smart! rebuild for Satisfactory 1.1+ is maintained by Finalomega with guidance and permission from Alex.

The rebuilt Smart! focuses on the same core idea: help players build faster while staying vanilla-friendly. It still places standard Satisfactory buildables and charges normal material costs.

Smart! source became publicly available for transparency, review, and contributions on April 26, 2026.

Huge thanks to Marcio for help from the beginning of Alex's path as a mod creator, TwoTwoEleven for code examples from Micro Manage, Archengius for examples of overriding default buildings, Mircea for ideas, and jay96 for the arrow idea.

Community

Smart! is shaped by players who report bugs, share layouts, test prerelease builds, translate text, make videos, and explain confusing edge cases. That feedback is a large part of why the current rebuild exists.
