Smart Panel and HUD
The Smart Panel is where you adjust Smart! without memorizing every keybind.
Open it with K.

Use the Smart Settings Form for:
- Grid size.
- Spacing, Steps, Stagger, and Rotation. The Rotation row also has an X/Y selector that chooses which grid axis the rotation builds up along — X curves the run, Y fans the rows out (see Transforms).
- Recipe selection.
- Belt Auto-Connect settings.
- Pipe Auto-Connect settings.
- Power Auto-Connect settings.
- HUD and arrow preferences.
The panel has Apply, Reset, and Close buttons in a row under the header. Depending on your settings, changes may apply immediately or wait until you click Apply; Reset returns the settings to their defaults.

With Apply Immediately off, Apply also rebuilds Auto-Connect previews using your pending choices. For blueprint placements, X/Y/Z spacing changes override the configured defaults for the current blueprint session.
When you are holding a stackable conveyor pole or pipeline support, the Smart Panel shows a Smart Walking button. Click it to start a walk and open the Smart Walking panel.
The panel is an editable table of every segment in the run:
- Advance, turn, rise, and shift values for each segment.
- Each segment's exit heading, shown as a compass bearing.
It also sets options for the whole path:
- Tier.
- Routing.
- Belt flow direction (belts only).
- Pipe style (pipes only).
See Smart Walking.

The HUD shows your current Smart! values while building. It is useful when you are adjusting with keybinds instead of the panel.
It can show:
- Grid counts.
- Active mode.
- Selected axis.
- Transform values.
While you are walking a run, the HUD also shows a compact walk badge with the segment count and current heading.

Smart Upgrade has its own panel because it works on existing buildings instead of the current placement preview.
Use it for:
- Scanning nearby belts, lifts, pipes, and power poles.
- Choosing a target tier.
- Previewing costs.
- Running the upgrade.
See Smart Upgrade.
