Introduction

This page has operating instructions for the ColecoVision core.

Installation

Copy the *.rbf file at the root of the SD card. You can rename the file to core.rbf if you want the MiST to load it automatically at startup.

Roms can be copied anywhere on the SD card and are selected via the OSD menu. If you have many files you might want to store them into alphabetized sub-folders to access them more quickly.

As the hardware is very similar, this core has an SG-1000 mode, where you can load ROMs for Sega's first console. This mode also supports the SK-1100 keyboard, so you can use Home Basic for example. It's also possible to load programs externally via tape input on the UART_RX pin of the FPGA. SG-1000 mode also supports the Dahjee type RAM extension, and extra RAM at $8000 for Basic, Othello and The Castle.

OSD Menu

The most important options:

  • Load *.COLBINROM: load a Colecovision ROM from SD card
  • Load *.SG: load an SG-1000 ROM
  • RAM Size: choose RAM size. SGM in Colecovision mode allows the SuperGameModule with 32K RAM extension. In SG-1000 mode, it's a 16K RAM extension (for a total of 32K).
  • Exp mod. 2: enable/disable the Expansion Module 2 (steering wheel)
