On the data frontier, I’ll have to create a data compiler that reliably takes 12 separate audio files (they should be able to not match formats, cover as many formats as possible), converts them into 16kHz 16-bit signed PCM .WAV files, measures the length of space it would take up on the P25D80SH, then use John-K’s codec to translate them into .a18 files that are directly injected into the compiled payload.
After this, I would then design a light configuration portion, but not until after the audio compiles and runs correctly. Since light durations are calculated backward from the end of the audio, I should make a cap for how long the lights can be (x amount of commands based on x duration of audio).
I am also working on measuring the case and parts. I have measured almost all dimensions I could think of for the carousel, the simplest part. I have seen that Mark Rober had advertised using OnShape. It’s paid, but since I am a student I get a free version. This is what I will try to learn for CAD.
I have also measured some of the film dimensions (and need a few more). I will use something like Inkscape to accurately measure out squares. I’ll turn it into a pdf and then send it to be printed on transparency sheets, I should include reference points, a scale for x and y to verify the print scaling, digits 0-9 at various fonts. I could also make a die to cut the film discs out easier. ChatGPT suggested I could use a sharpened steel tube as the die, something with thin walls.
