I think I’ve measured all the dimensions of both the carousel and film disc. I’ve posted them in /docs. The next step is to model the carousel using CAD, and print it, then iterate the size and fit.
The film has a particular orientation facilitated by a particular isomeric arrangement of different-sized “nubs” or pins on the carousel.
I must design how I will add these nubs within the height and position constraints of the official nubs.
Additionally, I must decide what orientation should the printed side of the film disc be facing: toward or away from the carousel when mounted. I am inclined to print back-facing as this will be simpler to orient pictures (no horizontal inversion required), as well as the fact that being mounted toward the carousel could be protective of the film (it’s stuck snuggly sitting on the carousel, thus preserving the printed slides).
