Jellyx is an audio-focused background music player. Below is what v0.3.x actually does — no roadmap promises.
| Area | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sources | YouTube, SoundCloud, local files |
| Audio only | No video playback |
| Queue | Add, reorder, remove, next/previous |
| Playlists | Create and manage |
| Favorites | Save tracks |
| History | Recently played |
| Visualizers | Real-time FFT-driven |
| Ambient mode | Cinematic, intensity configurable |
| Mini-player | v0.3.x skins, scale control |
| Languages | English, Spanish |
- YouTube — audio stream playback (no video).
- SoundCloud — audio stream playback.
- Local files — decoded locally via Symphonia.
External sources may enforce their own rate limits or ToS. Jellyx does not bypass them and adds no tracking of its own. See Privacy and License.
- Queue — session queue with reorder/remove.
- Playlists — named collections you manage.
- Favorites — quick-save tracks.
- History — recently played tracks.
- Real-time visualizers — driven by FFT on the PCM bus.
- Cinematic ambient mode — full-screen ambient visuals with configurable intensity.
- Mini-player skins — v0.3.x skin selection and scale control.
See User Guide → Settings for the full list. Highlights:
- Source toggles for configurable remote sources (enable/disable YouTube, SoundCloud). Local library/folder support is always available and is not presented as the same toggle.
- Normalize audio
- Mini-player skin and scale
- Cinematic mode and intensity
- Linux: hide title bar
- Language (EN/ES)
- About: version and repo links
Jellyx is not:
- A Spotify clone or streaming-account app
- A DJ or mixing tool
- A media center or video player
- A production-grade app (alpha quality)
