Secure Hatch
Secure Hatches function similarly to trapdoors but are much larger in size. They span four blocks horizontally and feature built-in stairs within their multi-block structure. This design allows seamless traversal between the hatch and connected stair blocks, making movement smoother and more accessible.
When a block is placed, the placing player becomes its owner. The owner can configure permissions, but when the block is unlocked, its functionality is accessible to anyone.
Once the block is locked, it remains inaccessible — even to the owner — until it is either unlocked or bypassed using Lockpicks.
Only the owner of a block can break it. The required tool depends on the block’s material:
- Wooden blocks – Require a stone axe or better.
- Metal blocks – Require a stone pickaxe or better.
When broken, the block will drop itself, allowing it to be collected and placed again.
Secure Hatches are placed away from the player, in the direction the player is facing. Similar to doors, they can be placed with the hinge on the left or right, depending on whether the player is looking more to the left or right at the time of placement.
When placed, the stair block portion of the hatch is positioned first, facing the same direction as the player. If any blocks in the placement area are not part of the replaceable tag, the hatch will not be placed. This prevents both block griefing and accidental removal of non-replaceable blocks.
Secure Hatches support both left and right hinges, as well as open and closed states. The hinge placement is determined by the player’s facing direction and look angle when placing the hatch:
- Facing north and looking slightly east → Right hinge placement.
- Facing north and looking slightly west → Left hinge placement.
This system ensures hinge orientation aligns naturally with the player’s placement intent.
Secure Hatches do not support redstone interaction. This is an intentional design choice to prevent players from using redstone mechanisms to bypass the hatch's security.
Right-clicking a Secure Hatch with a Link USB stores the hatch's dimension, position, and name on the USB. This USB can then be used on a Pinlock to establish a link between the two.
Once linked, entering the correct pincode on the pinlock will toggle the hatch's lock state between locked and unlocked.
After a block has been placed, its permissions can be modified using a Permission USB. This tool allows the owner to add or remove members from the block’s members list.
