The Docking Bay crew screen provides a full interface for managing a ship's docking bay berths. It allows the assigned officer to manage docked ships, transfer supplies and energy, vent heat, and coordinate repairs.

Access

This screen is available when the player's ship has a Docking Bay component with berths configured.

It consists of:

  • Berths (left column): A scrollable list of berths, each showing its type and any docked ship.
  • Selected berth (right column top): Details of the selected berth and its contents, including entity panel, missile inventory, energy, hull, and probes.
  • Berth operations (right column bottom): Berth-specific operation controls that change based on the selected berth's type.

Berth types

Each berth has a specific function:

Type Function Icon Default count
Hangar Launch and land berthed ships (fighters, shuttles, etc.) Dock 2
Energy Transfer energy between the carrier and berthed ship Bolt 1
Supply Transfer missiles and probes, generate supply drops Missile 1
Thermal Vent heat from berthed ships into the carrier's heat sinks Thermometer 1
Repair Repair hull and system damage on berthed ship Wrench 1
Storage Spare berths to store ships or cargo Hull 3

Selected berth

The Selected berth section displays details about any ship in that berth, including its weapons stocks, energy, hull strength, and probe stocks.

Berth operations

Moving docked ships

To transfer the selected berthed ship to another vacant berth, select the destination berth from the Move to: selector, then click/tap the Move to: button to initiate the move. A progress bar displays the move progress when selecting either the origin or destination berth, and you can cancel the move.

You can move a ship from a filled berth only to an empty berth, so if every berth is full, you must launch a ship from a Hangar berth.

Berth movement rates are influenced by the Docking Bay ship system's effectiveness.

Hangar

  • Launch: Deploy the docked ship from the selected berth.
  • Scramble hangars: Emergency launch ships from all hangar berths. Must be clicked twice to confirm.

Note: If a ship has a Drone operations officer, their drones can dock with the player ship. If a drone internally docks with a player ship, the drone operator can't launch their drones; the docking bay officer must launch the drone for them.

Energy

  • Displays carrier and docked ship energy levels.
  • Transfer direction slider: Choose whether power flows to or from the docked ship, or not at all.

Supply

  • Weapon and probe transfer: and buttons to move missiles, mines, and probes to or from the berthed ship.

  • Generate supply drop: Creates a supply drop in an empty supply berth. The carrier ship must also allow the Cargo class to dock internally with the ship.

A supply drop functions like a ship within the docking bay. To fill it with supplies, move it to a Supply (missiles, mines, probes) or Energy (power) berth. To drop it, move it to a Hangar bay and launch it. The supply drop is deposited behind the ship without any propulsion, and the docking bay officer must coordinate with Helms to ensure that they're moving forward to avoid immediately picking up their own supply drop.

Thermal

  • Venting direction slider: Choose whether heat is vented to or from the docked ship, or not at all.
  • Per-system heat gauges: Displays the current heat level of each system in the berthed ship, with arrows indicating the direction of change.

Repair

  • Repair prioritization slider: Choose whether to prioritize hull or system repairs when consuming resources to repair the berthed ship.
  • Per-system health gauges: Displays the current damage state of each system in the berthed ship.

Storage

  • No controls currently implemented.
