There are many ways to configure the main screen. Any officer can add main screen controls to their crew screen, or the Captain can control it with mouse and keyboard controls if connected directly to the main screen's client:

Main screen during a battle

  • Left mouse button: Rotate the main screen 90 degrees to the left
  • Right mouse button: Rotate the main screen 90 degrees to the right
  • Middle mouse button: Switch between ship, tactical radar, long-range radar, and strategic map views
  • : Set main screen to forward view
  • : Set main screen to rear view
  • : Set main screen to left view
  • : Set main screen to right view
  • Tab: Set main screen to short-range radar view
  • Q: Set main screen to long-range radar view
  • F: Set main screen to first-person view

Note that these controls are only for the main screen and not necessary to play the game, but could be used in custom hardware setups. A "custom" hardware setup for the Captain could be as simple as taping a 3-button mouse to an armchair.

Split screen

Since version 2020.04.09, the main screen can also be selected in addition to any other crew station and viewed alongside it, to help players in online matches maintain situational awareness without needing to run two copies of EmptyEpsilon. This main screen does not respond to keyboard controls, and to prevent a split screen from crowding out controls, it is visible only on wide screens.

In this mode, short-range and long-range radar views aren't displayed on the split-screen main screen.
