SYNOPSIS

Clears explicit NTFS access rules from files or directories.

SYNTAX

SecurityDescriptor

Clear-NTFSAccessRule -SecurityDescriptor <PSObject> [-ThrottleLimit <Int32>] [-PassThru]

DESCRIPTION

Removes every explicitly assigned access rule while preserving the inherited access rules and the current inheritance protection state.

Clears explicitly assigned access rules from every child item.

-SecurityDescriptor

A WindowsAccessControl.SecurityDescriptor object returned by Get-NTFSItemSecurityDescriptor. When supplied, the explicit rules are cleared on the descriptor in memory and the descriptor is returned; nothing is written until Set-NTFSItemSecurityDescriptor persists it.
