Foundry2D is an open source platformer prototyping tool, with a focus on rapid iteration, maximal customization, and ease of use.
This page is designed to help you get started and give a short introduction to the basics of the tool
Build and customize your levels in the editor! The main way to interact with the editor is with our three tools:
- Paint tiles with left click, and erase with right click!
- Select the tile you're painting with in the top toolbar.
- Paint large, rectangular areas with left click and erase them with right click!
- Once the area is right, press SPACE to confirm your action.
- Place props and entities with left click, and erase them with right click!
- Select the entity or prop you're placing with the top toolbar.
- Modify the properties of placed entities by clicking on them with this tool.
- Click and drag on an entity to move it around
- Duplicate placed entities by pressing CTRL + Click.
The cursor will ONLY affect entities and props, while the brushes will ONLY affect tiles.
Test out your levels in play mode! To enter play mode, make sure a Player and a Goal are placed. Once in play mode, use WASD or the arrow keys as well as space to control your character.
