Initial Setup

Welcome to your new TechyPad! Before you can start controlling OBS or Discord, you need to pair the hardware with your PC.

Connecting the Hardware

USB Connection (Recommended for Desktop PCs)

For the lowest latency and most reliable connection:

  1. Plug the provided USB-C cable into the TechyPad.
  2. Plug the other end into a USB port on your PC (preferably directly into the motherboard).
  3. The TechyPad screen should light up.
  4. Open the TechyPad Desktop App. The connection indicator at the bottom or top of the app should turn green, indicating "Connected via USB".

Bluetooth Connection (Great for Laptops)

Warning

Your TechyPad is shipped with the battery fully drained for safety. You must charge it via USB for at least 1 hour before attempting to use it wirelessly via Bluetooth, otherwise you may harm the battery.

If you prefer a wireless setup:

  1. Provide power to the TechyPad (e.g., via a USB wall charger or battery bank).
  2. On your Windows PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device.
  3. Select Bluetooth.
  4. Look for "TechyPad" (or similar) in the list of available devices and click to pair.

Note

After pairing, Windows might repeatedly connect and disconnect from the TechyPad because it is not an officially authorized Windows peripheral. You MUST remove the device from your Windows Bluetooth settings after this first connection! If you leave it in your paired list, it will cause disconnection issues later. The TechyPad app simply needs you to connect it with your PC once so Windows recognizes the device signature. After you remove it from Windows settings, the TechyPad app will handle the connection smoothly.

  1. Once paired in Windows, open the TechyPad Desktop App. It should automatically detect the Bluetooth connection and show "Connected via BLE".

Warning

Firmware updates require a physical USB connection. You cannot update the firmware over Bluetooth.

Configuring Your First Profile

  1. Create a Profile: In the desktop app, click on the profile dropdown menu and select "Create New Profile". Give it a name like "Main Layout".
  2. Assign Actions: Click on any of the empty buttons on the virtual grid.
  3. Choose an Action: A sidebar will appear. You can choose from built-in actions (like opening a folder) or plugin actions (like Muting Discord).
  4. Set an Icon: Click the icon box to upload your own image or choose from the default icon library.
  5. Save: Your changes are synced to the TechyPad instantly!
