OBS Studio Integration

TechyPad comes with built-in support for OBS Studio via the official OBS WebSocket plugin. You can control scenes, manage sources, and toggle your stream state right from your fingertips.

Prerequisites

  1. OBS Studio: Make sure you have OBS Studio installed and running.
  2. obs-websocket: OBS Studio (version 28 and above) comes with the WebSocket plugin pre-installed. If you are using an older version, you must install the obs-websocket plugin manually.

1. Connecting TechyPad to OBS

  1. In OBS Studio, go to Tools > WebSocket Server Settings.
  2. Check the box for "Enable WebSocket server".
  3. Note down the Server Port (usually 4455) and the Server Password.
  4. Open the TechyPad Desktop App and navigate to the Plugins tab.
  5. Find the OBS Plugin and enter the Port and Password. Click Connect.
  6. The plugin status should change to Connected.

2. Using OBS Actions

Once connected, you can assign OBS-specific actions to your buttons:

  • Switch Scene: When selecting this action, a dropdown will appear in the TechyPad app allowing you to choose exactly which OBS scene to switch to.
  • Toggle Source Visibility: Easily turn specific overlays, cameras, or captures on and off.
  • Stream/Record Control: Assign buttons to quickly start or stop your broadcast.

Tip

If a button isn't working, check the TechyPad desktop app to ensure the OBS connection hasn't been lost. If you restart OBS, the plugin should automatically attempt to reconnect.
