Installation Guide

Welcome to the TechyPad Installation Guide! This page will walk you through setting up the TechyPad Desktop Application on your Windows PC.

Prerequisites

  • OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Hardware: 1 available USB port or Bluetooth capability (for connecting the TechyPad)

1. Downloading the Software

TechyPad offers two ways to run the software. Choose the one that best fits your needs:

Option A: The standard Installer (Recommended)

This will install TechyPad to your system and create shortcuts.

  1. Go to the official Releases page.
  2. Download the latest TechyPad-Setup-x.x.x.exe file.

Option B: The Portable Version

This is a .zip file that requires no installation. Great for running off a USB drive!

  1. Go to the official Releases page.
  2. Download the latest TechyPad-Portable-x.x.x.zip file.
  3. Extract the folder anywhere on your PC and double-click TechyPad.exe to run.

2. Installing the Software (For the .exe Installer)

Once you have downloaded the .exe installer:

  1. Run the Installer: Double-click the TechyPad-Setup.exe file.
  2. SmartScreen Warning: Because TechyPad is an independent open-source project, Windows Microsoft Defender SmartScreen might show a warning stating "Windows protected your PC".
    • To proceed, click "More info" right under the text.
    • Then, click the "Run anyway" button that appears at the bottom.
  3. Follow the Wizard: The Inno Setup wizard will guide you through the rest.
    • Choose your preferred installation directory.
    • Check the box to "Create a desktop shortcut" if desired.
  4. Finish: Click Install and wait for the process to complete!

3. Launching TechyPad

After installation, you can launch TechyPad from your Desktop shortcut or Start Menu.

Next Steps: Now that the software is installed, you need to set up your hardware! Head over to the Initial Setup guide.
