Asset Intelligence

Asset Intelligence brings awareness to your Home Assistant environment by modeling what you own, where it is, and what conditions matter.

It transforms your system from device-centric automation to asset-aware intelligence.

👉 Begin with: Concepts

This will help you understand how assets, rooms, and labels work before setup.

What You Can Do

  • Track and manage important assets (artwork, electronics, valuables)
  • Assign assets to rooms and categories
  • Define environmental requirements for each room
  • Monitor real-world conditions against safe ranges
  • Leverage Home Assistant’s native Areas, Devices, and Labels

Key Principles

  • ✅ Home Assistant is the source of truth
  • ✅ No duplication of Areas, Devices, or Labels
  • ✅ Everything remains visible and usable across Home Assistant
  • ✅ Focus on awareness first, automation second

Quick Start

  1. Create your rooms (Areas) in Home Assistant
  2. Add assets using the Asset Intelligence UI
  3. Configure environment sensors for each room
  4. Define acceptable ranges
  5. Monitor and act on insights

Mental Model

  • Rooms (Areas) → Where things are
  • Assets (Devices) → What things are
  • Labels → What kind of things
  • Sensors → What’s happening
  • Environment Rules → What’s safe

Document Storage (Important)

Asset Intelligence supports storing documents and images associated with assets.

This requires configuring external storage (such as a NAS or network share).

  • Documents are not stored inside Home Assistant
  • A connected storage location must be configured during setup

Asset Intelligence enables a simple idea:

Homes that understand what matters behave better.
