This section allows you to define and maintain the identity, placement, and descriptive details of an asset.
- Asset ID (internal reference)
- Asset name
- Asset type
- Near window (Yes/No)
- Facing direction (e.g., North, East)
- Exposure zone (freeform description)
- Placement (physical placement)
- Location detail (precise positioning)
- Enclosure type
- Whether the enclosure is sealed
Multiple perspectives can be recorded:
- Guest description (general description)
- Owner notes (history or meaning)
- Insurance notes (coverage, value context)
- Manufacturer
- Warranty status/details
- Link the asset to a Home Assistant device (optional)
- Assign a BLE or tracking device (optional)
This data feeds:
- Environmental risk calculations
- Advisory logic
- Location awareness
- Asset traceability
- Be specific with placement descriptions
- Use consistent facing direction values
- Include enough detail for someone else to locate the asset physically
Accurate asset metadata is the foundation for meaningful intelligence.
