Locate Biomes

简体中文 | English

Use /locatebiome to find biome coordinates in your current dimension. It only reports a location; it does not teleport you.

Usage

/locatebiome <biome_id>

Requires command permission level 2. The search starts around the command sender's position, so run it in game to search around yourself.

Examples

Find Plains:

/locatebiome minecraft:plains

Find Badlands, whose 1.12.2 registry ID is still mesa:

/locatebiome minecraft:mesa

Find the mod's Lush Caves:

/locatebiome farmers_future_delight:lush_caves

Find the mod's Dripstone Caves:

/locatebiome farmers_future_delight:dripstone_caves

The last two examples require the mod's "Caves & Cliffs" world type. These special underground targets cannot be searched in a normal world.

Other mods' registered biomes can also be searched by their full registry IDs. Press Tab to see matching entries. If you omit the namespace, the command assumes minecraft:, so /locatebiome plains also works.

Understanding the result

A successful search reports the biome ID, X, Y, Z coordinates, and distance. Keep these limitations in mind:

  • The horizontal search extends approximately 6,400 blocks in each direction along X and Z from its sampling origin. It does not search the entire world.
  • Surface biomes are sampled at 32-block horizontal intervals. Cave biomes also use 16-block vertical intervals. Small areas can be missed, and the result is not guaranteed to be the mathematically nearest point.
  • With a regular biome provider, the reported Y coordinate uses sea level. With the mod's modern biome provider, it uses an estimated surface height. Neither guarantees a safe place to stand.
  • Cave results come from underground biome sampling. They do not guarantee that an open cave or a safe landing spot exists there.
  • The command does not create the requested biome or change the biome of existing chunks.

Common messages

Situation What to check
Unknown biome Check spelling, use Tab completion, and make sure the relevant mod and biome content are enabled
The biome only exists in a "Caves & Cliffs" world Use the two special cave targets in the corresponding world type
No matching biome found within the search range The biome may not exist nearby or in this dimension, or the sampling may have missed it; try another starting point

Searching for a distant or rare biome can take time. Avoid repeatedly issuing the same search on a server.
