Flows

Flows are graphs of agent nodes that run as an automated pipeline. Each node is an agent step with an instructions/expects/produces contract, wired together by edges connecting output ports to input ports.

Building a flow

  • By hand — the node editor lets you add nodes, connect ports, and edit contracts.
  • By conversation — tell the assistant what you want; it acts as a flow architect, asking one question at a time and drafting the graph node by node.

Flows are plain JSON on disk (.tome/flows/<name>.flow.json); a flow pane live-updates as its file changes.

Running

A flow only runs when you press Run — the assistant cannot run flows. Runs execute nodes as they produce their inputs, and a run pane shows progress read-only. Background runs continue in the background; see the run history for past results.

"Local" speech for the flow architect is on-device; the chat brain is your chosen provider (see Setting up an assistant provider).
