Chat Filters
ReinChat includes configurable chat filters to help server administrators moderate messages and reduce spam.
When a message is checked by the filter system, ReinChat evaluates it against the configured rules. Depending on the matching rule and its configured action, a message may be blocked or modified, and the filter can report the match.
The available rules, actions, and moderation options are configured in:
plugins/ReinChat/filters.yml
The filter configuration supports moderation options such as:
- Word and phrase filtering — Configure rules for unwanted message content.
- Spam protection — Configure checks intended to reduce repetitive or excessive chat messages.
- Caps filtering — Configure handling of messages containing excessive capital letters.
- Link and IP filtering — Configure checks for links and IP addresses.
- Filter actions — Control how flagged messages are handled.
- Staff alerts and Discord webhook notifications — Configure reporting options for flagged messages, where supported.
The exact behavior depends on the rules and settings in your configuration file.
Filters can be enabled or disabled for individual chat channels.
For custom channels, check the apply-filters setting in the relevant channel file under:
plugins/ReinChat/channels/
Public chat filtering is configured separately in:
plugins/ReinChat/channels/global.yml
If filters are disabled for a channel, that channel's messages bypass the chat filter checks.
After changing the filter configuration, use:
/reinchat reload
Check the server console for errors if the updated settings do not behave as expected.
- Check that filtering is enabled for the relevant channel.
- Review the rules and settings in
filters.yml. - Check the console for configuration or reload errors.
- Review the rules that match the message.
- Check the action configured for the matching rule.
- Confirm that filtering is enabled on the channel where the message was sent.
