Private Messaging and SocialSpy
ReinChat includes private messaging, message replies, player ignore functionality, and SocialSpy for authorized staff.
Players can send private messages to other online players without broadcasting the conversation to public chat.
Use:
/msg <player> <message>
For example:
/msg Steve Hey, are you available?
The recipient receives the message privately, and the sender receives a corresponding confirmation.
The /msg command also supports these aliases:
/tell/whisper/w
Use:
/r <message>
You can also use /reply.
This sends a message to the player associated with your last private conversation.
For example:
/r Sure, what's up?
ReinChat lets players toggle whether they ignore another player's private messages.
Use:
/ignore <player>
Running the command again toggles the ignore setting for that player.
This feature is intended to give players control over unwanted private messages.
SocialSpy allows authorized staff to monitor private messages through a separate staff-only display.
Use:
/socialspy
The /spy alias is also available.
Running the command toggles SocialSpy for the staff member using it.
SocialSpy access requires the reinchat.socialspy permission, or administrative access through reinchat.admin.
SocialSpy is designed to show private-message activity to staff members who have enabled it.
The display format can be customized in:
plugins/ReinChat/config.yml
SocialSpy can also detect messages sent through custom chat channels when the channel's socialspy-detect setting is enabled.
Channel detection is configured separately in the relevant channel YAML file.
Private-message and SocialSpy formats can be customized in config.yml.
This allows server administrators to change how sent messages, received messages, and monitored messages appear.
Message text and formatting can also be customized through messages.yml, where applicable.
ReinChat uses MiniMessage-style formatting for configurable text.
