PlaceholderAPI

ReinChat supports an optional integration with PlaceholderAPI. When PlaceholderAPI is installed and enabled, ReinChat registers its own expansion.

Requirements

  • ReinChat
  • ReinCore
  • PlaceholderAPI (optional)

Install PlaceholderAPI like any other server plugin. Restart the server and check the console to confirm that the integration loads successfully.

ReinChat Placeholders

ReinChat provides the following PlaceholderAPI placeholders:

Placeholder Description
%reinchat_tag% Returns the player's currently equipped tag with its formatting.
%reinchat_tag_name% Returns the player's equipped tag name as plain text.
%reinchat_has_tag% Returns true if the player has an equipped tag, otherwise false.

These placeholders are player-specific and require a player context to resolve correctly.

Using Placeholders

Use the placeholders in configurations or other plugin features that support PlaceholderAPI and where ReinChat resolves them.

For example, another plugin's configuration might use:

%reinchat_tag%

The exact result depends on the player's currently equipped tag.

Note: PlaceholderAPI support does not mean every ReinChat configuration field automatically processes PlaceholderAPI placeholders. Support depends on the relevant feature and formatting path.

Troubleshooting

Placeholders are not being replaced

  • Confirm that PlaceholderAPI is installed and enabled.
  • Check the server console for errors during startup.
  • Verify that you are using the exact placeholder spelling.
  • Ensure the feature or configuration field where you use the placeholder supports PlaceholderAPI and has access to the relevant player context.

The tag placeholder returns no visible tag

  • Check whether the player has equipped a tag.
  • Verify that the configured tag exists in plugins/ReinChat/tags.yml.
  • Test %reinchat_has_tag% to check whether a tag is equipped.
