Pedal Dynamics

In real race cars, throttle and brake pedals are analog mechanical systems equipped with springs, progressive rubber bump stops, and hydraulic load cells. On a keyboard, keys are binary (either 100% pressed or 0% released).
vWheel Hub's Schema V2 Pedal Dynamics Engine simulates realistic pedal inertia and progressive modulation using seconds-based two-segment curves (Fast Attack / Slow Attack), decay springs, instant cutoffs, non-linear gamma curves, and dual-key Turbo attack.
In Schema V2, pedal travel speeds are measured directly in real-world time:

100% Polling Rate Independence: Whether your Hub Polling Rate is set to
125 Hz,200 Hz,400 Hz,500 Hz, or1000 Hz, your pedal travel times in seconds remain 100% identical. - Lag-Proof Operation: If a background process causes a frame drop in-game, the pedals will never perform an erratic, instantaneous jump.
When you press the throttle key, the virtual throttle progresses through two distinct speed stages split at the Gas Threshold:

Braking is crucial for competitive lap times. The two-segment brake model provides instant straight-line stopping bite while granting precise modulation near the threshold of tire lockup:

vWheel Hub exposes all segment travel times directly in seconds with millisecond precision (e.g. 0.120 s):
- Automatic Threshold Preservation: When you adjust the Gas Threshold or Brake Threshold slider in vWheel Hub, the configured segment times in seconds remain constant, preserving your muscle memory.
- Estimated Full Press Times: The UI dynamically calculates and displays the total estimated time required to reach 100% input (Fast Attack + Slow Attack).
By assigning dual keybindings (e.g. W on keyboard and Left Mouse Button as secondary gas), pressing both keys simultaneously activates Turbo Attack Mode:
- Turbo Gas: Bypasses the two-stage threshold curve and instantly drives the throttle to 100% at maximum speed (ideal for race starts and launch control).
- Turbo Brake: Bypasses active Synthetic Trail Braking limits to force 100% emergency straight-line stopping power when you need immediate avoidance braking.
