Writing Sprints

Writing Sprints are timed writing sessions designed to boost your productivity by creating focused, distraction-free bursts of creativity.

Starting a Sprint

/sprint [minutes]

For example, /sprint 15 starts a 15-minute sprint. When a sprint is active:

  • A timer appears in the status bar counting down
  • Your starting word count and line count are recorded
  • A flash notification appears when the sprint starts
  • Concurrency Guard: You cannot start a new sprint while one is already in progress. Use /cancelsprint if you need to restart.
  • Focus Mode Support: Sprints remain visible even in Focus Mode, using a minimalist, borderless style to keep you focused on the timer without visual clutter.

During a Sprint

Write normally. The timer ticks in the background. When the sprint ends:

  • A summary is displayed showing words written and lines added during the session
  • The session is automatically saved to your sprint history

Cancelling a Sprint

/cancelsprint

This ends the sprint immediately without saving a record.

Sprint History

/sprintstat

Opens the Sprint Stats panel — a table of all your past sprints with:

Column Description
Project The file name of the script you were working on
Date When the sprint took place
Time Duration in minutes
Words Words written during the sprint
Lines Lines written during the sprint

Navigation

Sprint Data Storage

Sprint records are saved to your local data directory:

  • Linux: ~/.local/share/Fount/sprints.toml
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Fount/sprints.toml
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Fount\data\sprints.toml

The data is stored in TOML format and can be viewed or edited manually if needed.

Next: Snapshots — Automated backups and version history.
