X‐Ray Studio

X-Ray Studio is a high-performance analysis dashboard designed to give you deep insight into your screenplay's pacing, character dynamics, and production requirements.

Entering X-Ray Studio

Type /xray in the editor to open the studio. Fount will analyze your script in real-time and present the data across four specialized panes.

1. Pulse (Pacing & Energy)

The Pulse pane visualizes the "heartbeat" of your script by analyzing the balance between Action and Dialogue.

  • Script Overview: Key metrics including estimated runtime, total word count, and scene count.
  • Narrative Balance: A circular visualization showing the global ratio of Action vs. Dialogue across the entire script.
  • Pacing By Scene: A detailed, scrollable table listing every scene with visual percentage bars indicating the specific action/dialogue density for that scene.

2. Ensemble (Character Balance)

Ensemble helps you track character presence and interactions to ensure no one is getting lost in the shuffle.

  • Character Shares: A bar chart of the top 10 characters by dialogue volume, with an "Others" category to account for minor roles.
  • Interaction Matrix: A scrollable list showing how often specific pairs of characters appear in the same scene together.
  • Balance Pie Chart: A visualization of the dialogue distribution among your main cast.

3. Blueprint (Structural Audit)

Blueprint provides a high-level view of your script's architecture.

  • Scene Breakdown: Lists every scene with its page count and a visual length bar.
  • Structural Audit: Automatically flags scenes exceeding 3 pages (marked with (!)) to help you identify potential pacing issues or scenes that might need trimming.

4. Inventory (Production Tags)

Inventory is a powerful tool for production planning, indexing every production tag you've added to your script.

  • By Scene (Left Pane): A breakdown of assets required for each specific scene.
  • All Tags (Right Pane): A global inventory of all tracked assets (Props, Wardrobe, VFX, etc.) grouped by department.
  • Navigation: Use Tab to switch focus between the Scene and Global panes.
