Survey Markers

Exact Construction

A valid Survey Marker is a three-block vertical column plus one ordinary wall sign:

[Wall Sign] attached to a side face
[Chiseled Stone Bricks] ← top
[Lodestone] ← middle; use Notebook here
[Stone Bricks] ← bottom

Required Rules

  • The bottom block must be Stone Bricks.
  • The middle block must be a Lodestone.
  • The top block must be Chiseled Stone Bricks.
  • A normal wall sign must be attached to the north, south, east, or west side of the top block.
  • Any ordinary wood-family wall sign is accepted.
  • The sign may contain any text or no text; its placement is what matters.

Invalid Arrangements

The following do not validate:

  • A sign standing on top of the Chiseled Stone Bricks
  • A Hanging Sign
  • A sign attached to the Lodestone
  • The Lodestone on the bottom or top
  • Plain Stone Bricks in the top position
  • Chiseled Stone Bricks in the bottom position
  • A gap between blocks

Validation

The marker is checked whenever any potential marker part is placed. This means the sign or any of the three blocks can be the final placed piece.

When the complete structure becomes valid:

  1. A green message reports Survey Marker verified and active.
  2. Minecraft plays one randomly selected vanilla Amethyst Bud breaking sample.
  3. A repaired registered marker returns from Needs Repair to Verified.

The Behavior Pack settings gear can disable the chat feedback, the sound, or both. Disabling feedback does not disable the marker itself.

Recording the Marker

Validation alone does not create a Notebook entry. Hold the Explorer's Notebook and interact directly with the middle Lodestone. Complete the site form and select Record Site.

The stored coordinates are the Lodestone's coordinates, which provide a consistent reference point for every marker.

Ownership

The first explorer to register a marker owns that record. Another player cannot overwrite the same marker location. This prevents one player's Notebook actions from changing another player's survey entry.

Damage and Repair

Breaking any required part marks the entry as Needs Repair, but the location, name, category, coordinates, day, note, and Waystone notation remain saved.

Restore all required pieces. When the complete structure validates again, the entry automatically changes back to Verified.
