Mobs

There are 32 creatures in the combined pack. This page focuses on what matters while playing: where they turn up, whether they are friendly, and what is worth doing when you find one. The exact command for every creature is also collected on the Commands page.

JaizMod creatures

Mason Mouth

  • ID: jaizmod:mason_mouth
  • Found: placed with a Mimic Pot rather than added to an ordinary biome spawn list
  • Creative item: Mimic Pot (jaizmod:mimic_pot)

It looks like pottery until the mouth makes the situation rather clear. Mason Mouths stay in place, attack players and golems, and shrug off projectiles, so hitting them from a safe distance is not the easy answer it first appears to be. Their surface cracks when badly hurt.

Pottery sherds can change the pattern on a Mason Mouth. A gold nugget makes the Gilded look and a clay ball returns the Clay look. There are 26 appearances altogether, including the original face and the pottery patterns.

Bandit

  • ID: jaizmod:bandit
  • Found: enemy rooms in Trading Posts
  • Creative item: Bandit Spawn Egg (jaizmod:bandit_spawn_egg)

Bandits are hostile wanderers with several outfits and a broad pool of possible equipment. They dislike players, illagers, vexes and snow golems, and iron golems return the feeling. A Bandit may back away if a player is holding a Macuahuitl, actively using an item or carrying a shield in the off hand.

Rare Spices are the odd way to deal with one peacefully. Giving them to a Bandit calms it for a while and makes it throw an item from its trade loot. It cannot be repeated immediately, so carrying a stack does not turn one Bandit into an endless shop.

Fruit Bat

  • ID: jaizmod:fruit_bat
  • Found: Mahogany Forest and Fruit Bat Caves
  • Creative item: Fruit Bat Spawn Egg (jaizmod:fruit_bat_spawn_egg)

Fruit Bats roost and fly much like ordinary bats, but they can be leashed and they slowly produce Guano. If a resting bat is fed Sweet Berries there is also a chance it drops Guano immediately. They are persistent little cave residents and do not simply disappear because a player walked away.

Butterfly

  • ID: jaizmod:butterfly
  • Found: forests, flower forests, sunflower plains, taigas, birch forests, cherry groves and meadows
  • Creative item: Butterfly Spawn Egg (jaizmod:butterfly_spawn_egg)

Butterflies are peaceful flying animals with nine looks, from Monarch and Luna Moth to the rare Jampott variant. A glass bottle captures one and keeps its appearance. They follow the same flowers and breeding foods used by bees; breeding two Butterflies produces a Caterpillar rather than another adult Butterfly.

Caterpillar

  • ID: jaizmod:caterpillar
  • Found: Forest and Flower Forest
  • Creative item: Caterpillar Spawn Egg (jaizmod:caterpillar_spawn_egg)

Caterpillars can be scooped into a glass bottle, including their current colour. Left alone, a Caterpillar eventually settles into a Butterfly Chrysalis. The chrysalis changes over time and hatches a Butterfly; placing it above logs or leaves gives it a quicker start. Try not to land on it, because a hard fall breaks it.

Dragonfly

  • ID: jaizmod:dragonfly
  • Found: rivers, swamps, mangrove swamps and beaches
  • Creative item: Dragonfly Spawn Egg (jaizmod:dragonfly_spawn_egg)

Dragonflies are harmless fliers with several natural colours. They can be bred with bee food and caught in a bottle without losing their variant. They also rise in water instead of drowning at the bottom, which makes the shoreline spawns a little less fragile.

Firefly Swarm

  • ID: jaizmod:fire_fly_swarm
  • Found: swamps, mangrove swamps, rivers, taigas, old-growth forests, cherry groves, savannas and dark forests
  • Creative item: Firefly Swarm Spawn Egg (jaizmod:firefly_swarm_spawn_egg)

Firefly Swarms drift toward warm or glowing blocks such as torches, lanterns, campfires, glowstone, glow berries and shroomlights. They can be bred with bee food. Using a glass bottle on a swarm gives a Bottle of Fireflies and removes the swarm, making them useful as both ambience and decoration.

Snail

  • ID: jaizmod:snail
  • Found: swamps, mangrove swamps and lush caves
  • Creative item: Snail Spawn Egg (jaizmod:snail_spawn_egg)

This is the Snail kept from the larger JaizMod side of the merger. It is peaceful, follows bee food, can breed and fits into a glass bottle for transport. The older jaizmobs Snail was not kept as a second, almost identical creature.

Overworld creatures from Jaiz Mobs

Totem Spirit

  • ID: jaizmobs:totem_spirit
  • Found: badlands and savanna biomes
  • Creative item: Totem Spirit Spawn Egg

The basic Totem Spirit is a hostile melee creature with enough knockback to make a modest hit surprisingly disruptive. It attacks players, villagers and golems. Its loot mixes ordinary pottery materials with a chance of several pottery sherd patterns; player kills can also produce iron.

Desert Totem Spirit

  • ID: jaizmobs:desert_totem_spirit
  • Found: deserts and beaches
  • Creative item: Desert Totem Spirit Spawn Egg

This sandy version fights much like the normal spirit. Sandstone and raw iron are its more ordinary drops, with the same family of rare pottery sherds available from player kills.

Jungle Totem Spirit

  • ID: jaizmobs:jungle_totem_spirit
  • Found: jungles, bamboo and sparse jungles, taigas and old-growth taigas
  • Creative item: Jungle Totem Spirit Spawn Egg

The Jungle spirit is another aggressive variant. Mossy cobblestone suits its home, while emeralds, pottery sherds and iron make up the more interesting side of its loot.

Frosted Totem Spirit

  • ID: jaizmobs:frosted_totem_spirit
  • Found: snowy plains, snowy slopes, snowy taiga, frozen and jagged peaks, and ice spikes
  • Creative item: Frosted Totem Spirit Spawn Egg

Frosted spirits are slower and a little tougher than their warmer relatives. Their hits can apply Slowness, and they do not freeze in powder snow. Ice-themed blocks and the familiar rare sherd rolls make up their drops.

Spore Trap

  • ID: jaizmobs:sporetrap
  • Found: lush caves, jungles and bamboo jungles
  • Creative item: Spore Trap Spawn Egg

The name is fair warning. Spore Traps are fragile but hit very hard and actively chase players, villagers and golems. They can drop Glow Berries, and a player kill adds a chance for a Spore Blossom.

Pine Giant

  • ID: jaizmobs:pine_giant
  • Found: taigas, old-growth taigas, dark forests and lush caves
  • Creative item: Pine Giant Spawn Egg

A Pine Giant is more neutral guardian than roaming hunter. It wanders until something hurts it, then its large health pool and heavy attack become a problem. The current pack does not give it a special death drop, so fighting one is mostly a question of survival rather than profit.

Driplet

  • ID: jaizmobs:driplet
  • Found: dripstone caves, usually in small groups
  • Creative item: Driplet Spawn Egg

Driplets are small hostile cave creatures. They are not sturdy, but a group can make a cramped dripstone passage unpleasant. A death has a chance to leave a Dripstone Shard.

Stalagtitan

  • ID: jaizmobs:stalagtitan
  • Found: dripstone caves
  • Creative item: Stalagtitan Spawn Egg

The Stalagtitan is the big cave threat: high health, strong melee damage and a heavy shove. It is a much better source of Dripstone Shards than a Driplet, provided the player can actually bring it down.

Calcite Golem

  • ID: jaizmobs:calcite_golem
  • Found: stony peaks and stony shores
  • Creative items: Calcite Golem Spawn Egg or Calcite Totem

Use an Amethyst Shard on an untamed Calcite Golem to claim it. A tamed one follows its owner and attacks hostile monsters other than Creepers, which is probably for the best. It cannot breed and ignores the push of flowing water. Every golem drops a Cracked Calcite Totem.

Cultivator

  • ID: jaizmobs:cultivator
  • Found: cherry groves; it is deliberately rare
  • Creative item: Cultivator Spawn Egg

Cultivators are peaceful mobile seed farms. Adults periodically leave Wheat and Beetroot Seeds, with Melon and Pumpkin Seeds appearing less often. Their death loot can contain the same four seed types, although keeping one alive is usually more useful.

Klephtopod

  • ID: jaizmobs:klephtopod
  • Found: warm oceans and deep lukewarm oceans
  • Creative item: Klephtopod Spawn Egg

Klephtopods attack Hunter Eels and drowned, seek water when stranded and are immune to poison. A player can ride one, then steer it through the water while holding a Hunter Eel on a Stick. They are attracted by raw or cooked Hunter Eel as well. Drops include Tropical Fish and a chance of a Klephtopod Scute.

Hunter Eel

  • ID: jaizmobs:hunter_eel
  • Found: warm oceans and deep lukewarm oceans
  • Creative item: Hunter Eel Spawn Egg

Hunter Eels are aggressive to players and a long list of aquatic creatures, including Klephtopods. Their bite can poison. They drop Hunter Eel meat, already cooked if the eel died while burning, and can rarely drop a bone.

Nether creatures

Molotov Golem

  • ID: jaizmobs:molotov_golem
  • Found: basalt deltas
  • Creative item: Molotov Golem Spawn Egg

Every successful melee attack from a Molotov Golem also makes a small explosion, so trading blows in a carefully built base is a poor plan. Gunpowder and Sulfuric Remnants are its main drops. Like the other Nether creatures in this set, it is fireproof.

Geyser Berry

  • ID: jaizmobs:geyser_berry
  • Found: warped forests, growing on nylium
  • Creative item: Placeable Geyser Berry

It is a stationary living trap disguised as food. A Geyser Berry erupts when disturbed and can be recovered by interacting with it instead of simply walking into trouble. The dropped berry is edible.

Crimson Truffler

  • ID: jaizmobs:crimson_truffler
  • Found: crimson forests
  • Creative item: Crimson Truffler Spawn Egg

Crimson Trufflers roam the forest floor and provide Cooked Crimson Fungus. They are part creature, part moving Nether food source, and are much less dramatic than the local golems and hunters.

Warped Truffler

  • ID: jaizmobs:warped_truffler
  • Found: warped forests
  • Creative item: Warped Truffler Spawn Egg

The warped counterpart fills the same niche and drops Cooked Warped Fungus. Its colours are easier to lose among the warped vegetation, so it is often heard before it is noticed.

Ember Beetle

  • ID: jaizmobs:ember_beetle
  • Found: every main Nether biome, most often in groups
  • Creative item: Ember Beetle Spawn Egg

Ember Beetles are small, harmless fliers. They are mostly there to put some life in the Nether air. Their connection to the Glow Marker makes them worth noticing rather than treating as background particles.

Soul Wader

  • ID: jaizmobs:soulwader
  • Found: Soul Sand Valleys
  • Creative item: Soul Wader Spawn Egg

Soul Waders are enormous, slow-moving valley creatures and are not eager to pick a fight. Their useful drop is the Hardened Bone Fragment, which leads into the Hardened Skull equipment.

Strider Hunter

  • ID: jaizmobs:strider_hunter
  • Found: Nether Wastes
  • Creative item: Strider Hunter Spawn Egg

This lava predator is built to hunt Striders. Water hurts it, fire does not, and its drops include Strider Ham and the Basalt Mandible used for the Mandible Blade. The ham has a small chance to grant Fire Resistance when eaten.

End creatures

Void Bull

  • ID: jaizmobs:voidbull
  • Found: End Highlands; rare
  • Creative item: Void Bull Spawn Egg

The Void Bull is one of the pack's serious fights. It is hostile, heavy, and its attacks have an explosive side. Water is one of the few environmental things it handles badly. Shulker Shells and Void Husks are the rewards; the husks are the route into Void Scale Mail.

Aeroblob

  • ID: jaizmobs:aeroblob
  • Found: End Barrens, Small End Islands and End Highlands
  • Creative item: Aeroblob Spawn Egg

Aeroblobs are floating mounts. Ride one and hold a Star Fish on a Stick to guide it through the End. Helium Membranes are associated with these airborne creatures and cause Levitation when eaten, which can be useful or extremely inconvenient depending on the ceiling.

Star Fish

  • ID: jaizmobs:starfish
  • Found: End Highlands, usually in groups
  • Creative item: Star Fish Spawn Egg

Despite the name, these Star Fish drift through the End rather than the sea. Raw Star Fish is edible and has a small chance to cause Levitation; cooking it makes a better and safer meal. They also help provide Helium Membranes.

Large Star Fish

  • ID: jaizmobs:starfishleader
  • Found: End Highlands, alongside smaller Star Fish
  • Creative item: Large Star Fish Spawn Egg

The large version is a tougher member of the same airborne family. It appears in smaller groups and is the creature behind the slightly awkward internal ID starfishleader.

Arch Phantom

  • ID: jaizmobs:enderwing
  • Found: End Highlands; rare
  • Creative item: Arch Phantom Spawn Egg

Arch Phantoms are strong flying hostiles and should not be confused with the ordinary Overworld Phantom. A Tattered Wing can drop from them and is used in the Elytra-related crafting path.
