Icons

The Icons page (Content in the navigation) is the icon browser of a virtual server: it shows the server's icon pool — the images that channels, server groups, channel groups and the server itself can wear — and is where admins add images to it and remove them. Everyone with access to the server can look; uploading and deleting needs the admin role.

The page only manages the pool. Choosing an icon for something happens where that thing is edited: for a channel in its edit dialog, for a server or channel group through its i_icon_id permission on the Permissions page (which has a visual picker over this pool).

What it needs

TeamSpeak keeps the icon pool as files in the server's own file area, and WebQuery has no file-transfer commands. So reading the pool needs the SSH ServerQuery credentials of the server connection, plus the file-transfer port (30033 by default) open to the backend — the same as the Files page. Without them the page says Icon Browser Unavailable and why.

The in use marks (below) come over WebQuery and keep working even then.

The pool

Every icon is a tile with its picture, its ID (#1234567890) and its size, newest first. The header counts the icons and shows the biggest icon this server accepts (i_max_icon_filesize). The search field filters by ID.

  • Click a tile to select it (click again to deselect); a bar appears with Delete selected and Clear. Point at a tile and a trash can appears for deleting just that one.
  • In use: a tile carries an in use badge when something is wearing the icon; point at it to see what — the virtual server, a server group, a channel group or a channel, by name and ID. This is read from the live lists, so it is always current.

Adding icons

Upload Icons takes one or more files, and so does dropping them onto the pool.

  • PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP and SVG are accepted, recognised by their bytes and not by the name.
  • The server's own limit decides the size. The limit is the i_max_icon_filesize permission of the account the manager connects with, shown in the header and in the note under the pool; a file above it is reported and not uploaded. (Separately, the manager never accepts more than 2 MB in one upload, whatever the server allows.)
  • An icon's ID is the CRC32 checksum of its file. The same image therefore always gets the same ID: uploading it twice does not make a second icon, and the message says already in the pool.
  • b_icon_manage is TeamSpeak's permission to manage icons. The manager looks it up for the account it connects with, and when that account lacks it, a note under the pool says so (the page itself does not stop you; TeamSpeak will refuse).

Deleting

Deleting removes the icon from the pool, and cannot be undone. If a selected icon is still assigned, the confirmation names where; deleting it anyway leaves those assignments pointing at an icon that no longer exists — the thing then simply shows no icon. Remove it from the channel or group first if you want it clean.
