Settings

Simple Mouse Cursor is configured through World of Warcraft's Settings → AddOns → Simple Mouse Cursor page.

Changes are applied immediately, so you can adjust the options while looking at your cursor to see the result.

This page provides a complete reference for the current settings.

Ring Slot Assignment

Change Reticle

Selects the central cursor marker.

Options:

  • Dot
  • Chevron
  • Crosshair
  • Diamond
  • Flatline
  • Star
  • Ring
  • Tech Arrow
  • X
  • No Reticle

Default: Dot

Choosing No Reticle hides the central marker without disabling the surrounding rings.

Size

Changes the size of the selected reticle.

Range: 0.5 to 2.0 Default: 1.5

Different reticle styles have different natural proportions, so you may want to readjust this after changing style.

Inner Ring

Controls what is displayed in the ring closest to your cursor.

Options:

  • None
  • Main Ring
  • Main Ring + GCD
  • Main Ring + Cast
  • Cast
  • GCD
  • Health and Power
  • Health
  • Power

Default: GCD

Main Ring

Controls what is displayed in the middle ring position.

The same options are available as the Inner Ring.

Default: Main Ring

Outer Ring

Controls what is displayed in the outermost ring position.

The same options are available as the Inner Ring.

Default: Cast

Colours

Use Class Color for Reticle

Colours the reticle using your character's class colour.

Default: Off

When disabled, the reticle uses its normal white appearance.

Use Class Color for Main Ring

Colours the Main Ring using your character's class colour.

Default: Off

This option is unavailable while Main Ring Pulse or Main Ring Rotation is enabled because those effects control the Main Ring colour themselves.

Use Class Color for Cast

Colours the Cast indicator using your character's class colour.

Default: Off

Use Class Color for GCD

Colours the Global Cooldown indicator using your character's class colour.

Default: Off

Use Power Type Color for Power Ring

Controls the colour used by the Power indicator.

Default: Off

When disabled, the Power ring uses its normal blue colour.

When enabled, it changes colour to match your character's current primary power type, such as Mana, Rage, Energy, or another class resource.


Main Ring Pulse

For examples and a fuller explanation of these controls, see Effects.

Enable Main Ring Pulse

Turns the Pulse effect on or off.

Default: Off

When enabled:

  • Main Ring Rotation is disabled.
  • Main Ring class colour is disabled.
  • The two configured Pulse colours control the Main Ring.

Pulse Color A

Sets the first colour used by the Pulse effect.

Default: White

Pulse Color A Opacity

Controls the visibility of Pulse Color A.

Range: 0% to 100% Default: 100%

Pulse Color B

Sets the second colour used by the Pulse effect.

Default: White

Pulse Color B Opacity

Controls the visibility of Pulse Color B.

Range: 0% to 100% Default: 100%

Pulse Speed

Controls how quickly the Main Ring moves between the two Pulse colours.

Range: 0.25 to 3.0 Default: 1.0


Main Ring Rotation

Enable Main Ring Rotation

Turns the rotating Main Ring effect on or off.

Default: Off

When enabled:

  • Main Ring Pulse is disabled.
  • Main Ring class colour is disabled.
  • The Rotation colours control the appearance of the Main Ring.

Rotation Color A

Sets the first colour in the rotating gradient.

Default: White

Rotation Color A Opacity

Controls the visibility of Rotation Color A.

Range: 0% to 100% Default: 100%

Rotation Color B

Sets the second colour in the rotating gradient.

Default: White

Rotation Color B Opacity

Controls the visibility of Rotation Color B.

Range: 0% to 100% Default: 100%

Rotation Speed

Controls how quickly the Main Ring rotates.

Range: 0.1 to 5.0 Default: 1.0


Mouse Trail

Enable Mouse Trail

Turns the cursor trail on or off.

Default: Off

Use Class Color for Trail

Colours the trail using your character's class colour.

Default: Off

When disabled, the trail is white.

Trail Duration

Controls how long each part of the trail remains visible.

Range: 0.2 to 1.0 seconds Default: 0.5 seconds

Trail Density

Controls how frequently trail elements are created as the cursor moves.

Range: 0.004 to 0.020 seconds Default: 0.005 seconds

  • Lower values create a denser trail.
  • Higher values create a sparser trail.

Trail Scale

Controls the size of the trail elements.

Range: 0.5x to 2.0x Default: 1.0x

Visibility

Show Only in Combat

Controls whether the normal cursor graphics are restricted to combat.

Default: Off

When enabled, the cursor graphics appear when you enter combat and hide when combat ends.

When Shift Is Pressed

Assigns an action to the Shift key.

Options:

  • None
  • Show Rings
  • Ping with Ring
  • Ping with Area
  • Ping with Crosshair
  • Show Crosshair

Default: None

When Ctrl Is Pressed

Assigns an action to the Ctrl key.

Uses the same options as Shift.

Default: None

When Alt Is Pressed

Assigns an action to the Alt key.

Uses the same options as Shift.

Default: None

The Show Rings option has some additional visibility behaviour, so see Visibility & Modifier Keys before using it as a push-to-show setup.


Transparency

Controls the overall opacity of the main cursor graphics.

Range: 10% to 100% Default: 100%

Lower values make the display less prominent.


Cursor Ring Scale

Changes the overall size of the Simple Mouse Cursor display.

Range: 0.5 to 3.0 Default: 1.0

This scales the cursor graphics as a group.


Frame Strata

Controls whether Simple Mouse Cursor is drawn behind or in front of other UI elements.

Options:

  • BACKGROUND
  • LOW
  • MEDIUM
  • HIGH
  • DIALOG
  • FULLSCREEN
  • FULLSCREEN_DIALOG
  • TOOLTIP

Default: BACKGROUND

If the cursor disappears behind parts of your UI, try a higher setting.

If it appears over windows or frames where you would prefer it to stay behind them, choose a lower setting.

Reset to Default Values

Reset to Default Values restores Simple Mouse Cursor's configuration to its original defaults.

This includes:

  • ring assignments;
  • reticle and size;
  • colour preferences;
  • Pulse and Rotation settings;
  • trail settings;
  • visibility and modifier actions;
  • transparency;
  • overall scale;
  • frame strata.

The new settings are applied immediately and Simple Mouse Cursor displays a confirmation message in chat.

Use this option if you want to start again with the addon's original configuration.
