Agenda

  1. Discuss possible embargo features and implementation ideas
    • Please make comment/suggestions & add any relevant issues I might have missed
    • Whats the best place to document this discussion? I'm not wild about using a Google Doc, but there are too many existing issues to warrant making another.
  2. Last chance for Milestone Issues

Notes

  1. Last chance for Milestone Issues - release is coming next week, so Danny is pushing through the last few things. If you want something included, now is the time! Webinar coming up on March 24 to give folks a tour of what's in the release. May release with a few known issues, but that's life in open source software. Nothing major is looming; it's all pretty solid.

    1. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1451 - This is the one Danny would most like to see fixed. It's hard to debug because it happens in the background. If you have bad timing and try to view a file while it is trying to generate many fields, this can happen. Once. When you return, everything is fine... but it can happen on first time generation of FITS derivative.
    2. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1274 - Not critical. There's a PR, but debugging Travis can be a pain, so if this doesn't make it, it's not a big deal.
    3. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1459 - Not restricting "File," but adding another option. Not much difference between the two, other than extensions. For now. PR exists.
    4. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1246 - Small changes needed to migrate FITS streams from 7.x. When we move a TECHMD file and tag as FITS, it needs to be created as FITS media and not File media.
    5. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1149 - There may bea PR from Danny Bernstein that can fix this. This is currently only a problem for multi-server set ups.
    6. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1237 - Might be closeable? Relates to an earlier time when things in islandora_defaults were more fluid.
    7. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1269 - Maybe still an issue? needs investigation.
    8. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1294 - Maybe still an issue? needs investigation. Current set up allows you to point at non-islandora manifests.
  2. Discuss possible embargo features and implementation ideas

    • Bryan is back and ready to talk embargoes. This document is a starting point to gather thoughts. There have been attempts to address access control, but so far they solve specific use cases; 7.x had a shared method for embargoes, although it was fragmented between IP embargoes and timed embargoes with different, sometimes conflicting modules. Can we unify these, with one configuration screen, in 8? Embargo by user instead of an all-encompassing embargo-bypass permission, would be great. Auto-expiring embargoes would be great. Keeping embargo info as legacy metadata after its lifted would be great.
    • Looking for an informal group who are interested in this, to bounce ideas. ASU is definitely in. UNLV too, for the access controls more than embargo. Embargo is not just for IRs!
    • XACML is gone, so access control happens at the Drupal level now. Locking things down is vital. ISlandora_defaults puts file uploads in Fedora and derivatives into the public filesystem. Putting them into a private filesystem is ok, but has a small performance hit (which is why Drupal recommends public). This is, of course, configurable!
    • FSU needs this, so Bryan is working on it, but would prefer to make a solution that works for the whole community, so discussion is wanted.
    • Plugging this into the Drupal published/unpublished system opens up a lot of contrib modules.
