Notes

  1. Survey results are in
  2. Workflow changes (for GitHub repositories) - Can we adopt RTBC?
 * several situations where a non-committer reviewed and it was merged. Could Reviewed and Tested by the Community). Danny suggests that we loosen it up a little bit more - currently only a committer can merge (which is how it already is), but Travis has to be green restriction can be not a failure in cases where it is obvious that the Travis failure is not going to cause issues.
    • Gavin asked if we could use more automated testing to help this along - even though we use Travis for some code testing.
    • consensus of those who were present approved but the Islandora coordinating committee (ICC) needs to approve this.
  3. Creating a wizard to generate content types / contexts / config
    • (Danny mentioned that Rosie would love to see this topic)
    • we want to answer this “What is an Islandora Object anyway?” question and it will take some work. There are perception problems with the stuff — but this is a great excuse to improve an object.
    • Rosie summed it up well, “What is Islandora?” is a way to answer this question… so an Islandora Object is a drupal node that has Islandora stuff added to it — and we are using Drupal as a digital asset management system.
    • This wizard interface would walk the users through how they want to use the Islandora framework - for example, “do you want your stuff OCR’d?” is a more specific question… the questions would be more general. Seth said that this is the wizard that will “islandora-ize” my content type.
 * Rosie makes a good point that the wizard is great, but it makes things more opaque… that the behaviors become rigid. Danny pointed out that there are pretty much always exceptions to even the most general rule that we have come up with. Alan Stanley said that there have been RDM objects that do not have a model value at all.
    • Mark Jordan proposed that we determine a base set of values for field_model. Jordan Dukart indicates that this is a taxonomy vocabulary so it is fairly easy to add / remove models from the list.
    • Melissa Anez suggests “we can have the wizards without the existential questions, right? Because the is a great way to improve UX”
  4. Open PRs
    1. https://github.com/Islandora/islandora/pull/783 - for “Provide default name (and alt text for images) in add media form #1491“ reviewed and approved, just needs to be merged.
    • it was reviewed by Jordan Dukart.
    1. https://github.com/Islandora/islandora/pull/782 addresses two related issues: “RDF mappings report doesn't display mappings with multiple predicate values #1549” and “RDF Mapping report: Add bundle to RDF Type display #1550” - needs to be reviewed/tested. Eli Zoller volunteered to test this.
    2. https://github.com/Islandora/islandora_defaults/pull/10 - Mirador viewer option YAY!! “Add islandora_mirador submodule #10“. This was tested by Debbie Flitner and noticed that there can be a lot of issues with OpenSeadragon with paged content, so the config was changed to look at the “Service File” rather than the “Original file”. Mark Jordan volunteered to test this pull request. https://github.com/Islandora/islandora/pull/793 - for versioning files. The Travis scan was not working because there wasn’t a reference to the required module in the compose.json file. Looking for somebody to test the Alpaca and Crayfish PRs. Danny volunteered to test it. https://github.com/Islandora/drupal-project/pull/38 - Is just a documentation change so it should be able to be merged by anybody who is authorized to merge it.
  5. Issue Roundup
    1. “Provide a way to create media from file already in Fedora” https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1577
    2. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1589 “Composer OOM Errors on drupal-project #1589”
    • the Travis call should work when the memory limit is not capped.
