I updated the mod and my world looks the same. Did it work? Yes. The mod's terrain (mountains, rivers, coasts) only comes with a new world, and a world keeps the land it was made with, so no seams appear at the edge of explored ground. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hot springs, weather, gases and instruments work in your old world as well.

Can I use it with Terralith? Yes. The mod's world stays the default and Terralith's biomes grow on its terrain.

I have Tectonic or Biomes O' Plenty, and my new world looks vanilla. With Tectonic, TerraBlender, Biomes O' Plenty or BYG installed, the vanilla world stays the default. Pick FT's Geology or FT's Geology (Tall) under World Type when you create the world.

Which world type should I pick? FT's Geology (Tall), the default, is 960 blocks high at 10 m to a block and is the only one with Everest, K2 and the Matterhorn. FT's Geology keeps the normal height at 25 m to a block. Everything else works in both.

Does it work on a server? Yes. The mod is needed on the server and on every client. All commands are for operators, and on Forge each world has its own config in serverconfig/ (on NeoForge one shared config/fts_geology.toml).

Will earthquakes wreck my base? They can, if you build on or near a plate boundary. Use the fault compass to see how far the nearest boundary is. Give your buildings foundations, and build with stone, brick or concrete rather than cobblestone or sand. Server owners can lower shakingDamage or turn off quakesBreakBuilds. See Earthquakes.

My grass never dries out in a drought. That part is off by default. Turn on soilWaterChangesGround in the server config. See Water and Soil.

I built water over rock over lava and nothing happened. Player-built geysers are off by default. Turn on emergentEnabled, and be aware that with emergentDestructive (on by default) the eruption can blow up what is around it.

There is no rain sound. The mod plays vanilla's rain sound where it rains. Recorded rain and wind come with the FT's Geology: Feel the Nature addon. If sounds cut out in a big modpack, the mod already raises the sound stream limit to 16 (soundStreams).

Do shaders work? Yes, with Oculus. Shader packs draw the rain themselves and treat river water as water.

Does it work with Distant Horizons? Yes. In the mod's world types, Distant Horizons draws far terrain straight from the plate model, without generating chunks.

Does it work with TerraFirmaCraft? Yes. The mod uses TFC's rock and ores, and leaves the climate and soil water to TFC.

Is there a NeoForge version? Yes, from 0.11.3: NeoForge 1.21.1, with the same world as the Forge version for the same seed. On NeoForge the server settings are in config/fts_geology.toml. TerraFirmaCraft and Alex's Mobs have no 1.21.1 versions, so those integrations are Forge only.

Something froze or broke. What do I send? Open an issue on GitHub with your log (logs/latest.log), your mod list and, if the server froze, logs/fts_geology_stall.txt.
