Backups, Updates and Bug Reports

Back up your settings

Setup > Back up settings now backs up your current settings with one click.

To restore a backup, or keep several settings profiles (say, home and portable), use Setup > Database Manager.

Updates

Once a day Kainos checks for a new version and, if there is one, shows what's new with Download, Later and Skip this version. Setup > Check for updates checks right away.

Report a bug

Report a bug is at the top right of the menu bar (and in the Setup menu).

1. Write a short summary and what happened (steps to make it happen again help a lot).
2. Kainos adds diagnostics: versions, Windows, screen, layout, radio, audio and recent errors.
3. Open on GitHub opens a new issue in your browser with it all filled in. Nothing is sent until you press Submit there (a free GitHub account is needed). Copy to clipboard lets you paste it elsewhere instead.

Light mode

For slower PCs: Light mode turns the 3D panadapter off and lowers the display to 20 frames a second. Find it in the Setup menu and Setup > Appearance > Kainos; the setup wizard suggests it on PCs with 4 or fewer processor threads. Turning it off puts your frame rate and 3D back.
