A band along the bottom of the panadapter shows, at a glance, what each part of the band is used for and where you may transmit.
- Labels: CW, DIGITAL, SSB, BEACONS, AM, SATELLITE or FM, with a divider where each section starts. From the ARRL band plan in the Americas, and the IARU Region 1 plan elsewhere.
- Tags above it at the popular frequencies: FT8, FT4, WSPR, PSK31, SSTV, AM and QRP.
- Colours for your licence:
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Gold | All modes (phone too) |
| Ice blue | CW and data |
| Violet | CW only |
| Red | Out of privileges: in the band, but not yours (labelled so) |
| Grey | Band edges only (countries without built-in privileges) |
The band plan uses the country and licence class from the setup wizard. You can change them, or turn the band plan off, in Setup > Appearance > Kainos > Band plan.
Privileges are built in for:
- The United States: Technician, General and Amateur Extra, 160 to 10 m and 6 m (60 m's channels are left out).
- Canada: Basic (6 m on the HL2), Basic with Honours and Advanced.
Other countries show the band edges only.
It's a guide. Band plans are voluntary and simplified here; always check your own licence before transmitting.
