The Kainos Layout
Kainos opens in the Kainos layout. You can switch back to Thetis's own look in Setup > Appearance > Kainos > Layout (Classic), and change the size of Kainos's controls with UI scale (75 to 200%).
Power, transmit and VFO buttons: POWER, RX2, MOX, TUN, 2TON, SWR (see SWR Sweep), MON, VOX, DUP, PS-A, SPLT, A>B, A<B, A<>B, 0 Beat, IF->V, REC, PLAY, VAC1 and VAC2. Right-click a button for the same settings shortcut as in Thetis.
- VFO flags show each receiver's antenna, filter, DSP, mode, frequency and S meter. See VFO Flags.
- The band plan along the bottom shows what each part of the band is for, and your privileges. See Band Plan.
- Spots from the DX cluster and POTA appear as callsign tags. See Spots.
- The bar under the panadapter has pan, zoom, the display mode, AVG / Peak / CTUN, multi-RX pan, and 3D.
Press 3D under the panadapter to stack the last few seconds of traces behind the live one, in the waterfall's colours. Right-click it for its settings. It uses more CPU; on a slower PC use light mode.
Setup > Appearance > Kainos > Panadapter: the Kainos navy background with the logo faint behind the trace (and how strong the logo is), Kainos's panadapter colours, and how see-through the VFO flags are.
A column of tabs you turn on and off by clicking them: VFO, VFO SYNC, METERS, BAND, RX, TX, PA, EQ, KAINOS AUDIO, FREEDV, MEMORY, SPOTS and KIWI. See The Right-Hand Column.
The menu bar is grouped: Audio, Modes (FreeDV, RTTY, CW, CWX) and Tools (XVTRs, Linearity, Radio Astronomy, Finder) sit between Memory and Compact. Everything about audio is under Audio: Kainos Audio (receive and transmit), the VST3 plugin, Thetis's Equalizer, and shortcuts to the VAC, VOX / DEXP and CFC settings. Compact (Thetis's Collapse) tucks the left and right columns away at the window's edges. Report a bug is at the top right. The Setup menu also has Back up settings now, Run setup wizard, Light mode, Check for updates and Report a bug.
