Linux
The plugin and the launcher both work with Wine and Lutris.
There is a native Linux launcher (NFSUServerChanger). Put it into the game folder.
Start game uses the settings of the game's Lutris entry if there is one; otherwise the system
wine (or, if there is none, the newest Wine that Lutris brought along), with the Wine prefix
taken from the game's path (.../drive_c/...). Settings shows which one is used.
Wine uses its own dinput8.dll instead of the game folder's one (the ASI loader that loads the
plugin) unless told otherwise. The launcher does this by itself: every DLL in the game folder is
loaded "native, builtin". Starting the game another way, set the DLL override dinput8 to
native, builtin yourself (winecfg > Libraries, or the game's DLL overrides in Lutris).
Under Wine, NFSU crashes when it can't open its ping socket (page fault at 00668791). The plugin
prevents that; the game's pings then time out.
For working pings (Wine 7.13 or newer), allow ping sockets once. The launcher offers it at start (Switch on now asks for your password), or run it yourself:
sudo sh -c "echo 'net.ipv4.ping_group_range = 0 2147483647' > /etc/sysctl.d/99-nfsu-ping.conf && sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/99-nfsu-ping.conf"With a firewall like ufw active, races fail even with Hole Punching:
sudo ufw allow 3658/udpNFSU Server Changer
