Leaving the US

  • Don't be an evil American. Educate yourself on gentrification and prevent it with your purchases and lifestyle choices. Understand the factors that led to you wanting to leave, and don't bring your political problems with you. Every US citizen is the problem- learn the type of problem you are and fix yourself.

  • The following two links give a lot of great information on becoming an expat/ immigrant. More info here: This link has info on: Visas Immigration Bank accounts Taxes https://www.reddit.com/r/expats/comments/vn7ycx/so_you_want_to_move_from_the_us_to_another_country/ Super detailed info here: Citizenship by birthplace Citizenship by descent Marriage / Partner Visa Citizenship for Jewish people African Descent in the Diaspora Citizenship by Investment / Golden Visas(Paraguay info is outdated) Retirement Visas/Passive Income Visas Fight for Ukraine French Foriegn Leigon Student Visa Language Learning Visa Work Visa Digital Nomad Visa Au Pair Visa Teaching English Abroad Working Holiday Visas Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) Svalbard Non-profit work / volunteer organizations Global Talent Visa Freedom of Movement Agreements FAQs https://www.reddit.com/r/AmerExit/comments/urwlbr/a_guide_for_americans_that_want_to_get_out_of/

  • If you are the type of person who would be particularly harmed by fascism, I’d suggest trying to leave the United States and become an expat/immigrant. I would also suggest getting involved in activism since other Western countries are slowly becoming similar to the US regarding oligarchs and right-wing issues, and many developing nations are heavily influenced by US politics, and many global transphobia and homophobia legislation is a direct result of what’s happening here.

  • Do research on which countries are the safest for a person such as yourself, or if you are with a group, which country would be safest for everyone.

  • If you are disabled or poor, it will be extremely difficult to move to a western nation, however there are countries in latin america and other continents that you can go to.

  • If you or your biological family are immigrants, and you are comfortable going back to your country, see if you can get dual citizenship.

  • Countries want skilled labor. Medical or tech industry.

  • When learning the language, first learn the 200 most common words, slang words, main words used in your profession and hobbies, and language “tricks”. Language tricks are when a large amount of words are really easy to learn because of a similar attribute. You can also do accent training. When learning a language, watch TV in that language.

  • This is a discord server for people who want to move to another country. People share research. https://discord.gg/pxxrtw5gfk Server is called Getting the Fuck Outta Here.

  • These first two links are really simple, just meant to brainstorm: Planning a back-packing trip: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/how-to-pack-for-an-international-backpacking-trip.html Planning a trip: https://www.worldtrips.com/blog/posts/planning-international-travel

  • I had this hypothetical idea for visa marriage, in a country with a low cost of living. The relationship would be a friendship, like two straight friends getting married and sharing housing and bills, but not being sexual or romantic. The citizen would provide a visa, and the immigrant would provide the income, and in general would help each other out. Right now there's nothing organized but if this interests you, feel free to join the Plans Ahoy discord server so a group can be formed. https://discord.com/invite/GV4M8MgZG3

  • Another idea is country hopping. You travel as if you are traveling the world, & move locations when your visa expires. https://www.homeexchange.com/

  • Places visas are not required to stay for a little bit of time, for US citizens: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_United_States_citizens#Visa_requirements_map
