Kennisbasis for your AI assistant

English | Nederlands

A small extension that gives your AI assistant a notebook of its own: the vault. At the start of every new conversation, the assistant can read back who you are, what you do and where your knowledge lives. It works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Mistral.

Made by Wim Wessels, based on how he works with AI every day.

The skills and the vault template are in Dutch for now. Folder names such as Klanten (clients) and Projecten (projects) are explained on The vault.

Why

Built-in memory differs per AI program and does not keep every project detail on its own. With a knowledge base of your own, you control the context you carry from one conversation to the next.

The first advice I give everyone: structure your knowledge, and make sure your AI assistant knows at every session who you are, what you do and where to find that information.

Kennisbasis arranges that with three agreements:

  1. The assistant gets a notebook of its own, the vault. An ordinary folder with text files. It holds who you are, what you work on and what has been decided.
  2. The assistant's memory holds only signposts. One line per project: where it lives and what the next step is. The knowledge itself is in the vault. That keeps the memory small and the knowledge findable.
  3. Your files stay where they are. Documents, quotes and photos stay in your own folders. The vault points to them.

Because the vault is plain text, you are not tied to one provider. Switch from ChatGPT to Claude or the other way around, and your knowledge comes with you. Use several side by side, and they share the same vault.
