Steam legacy build

This page documents the Steam-only .NET Framework 4.8 release, v3.0.02. The current app is a Go + Wails build with many platform entries. For current Steam switching, see Platform Steam.

Run it

Install the legacy installer or extract the portable .zip, then run:

TcNo Account Switcher.exe

If HardenTools blocked cmd.exe, the legacy app can crash. Re-enable Command Prompt access before running it.

How the legacy switcher worked

  1. Read accounts from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\loginusers.vdf.
  2. Set the selected account as latest and set Remember Password to true.
  3. Set HKCU\Software\Valve\Steam\AutoLoginUser.
  4. Close processes starting with Steam.
  5. Restart Steam.exe.

Legacy options included administrator launch, hidden VAC status, SteamID display, and persona state such as Invisible or Offline.

Support status

The legacy build is historical. Use the current release unless you specifically need the old Steam-only app.
