Release list
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 8
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 8
Preview 8 is a deliberately narrow iPhone/iPad feature release. It adds the
requested optional second touch Fire button and retains Preview 7's accepted
gameplay, controls, renderer settings, iOS 17 Metal target, ROM conversion,
saves, and audio. The unchanged Apple-Silicon Mac Alpha remains Preview 7.
What changed
- Touch Controls → Add left-side Fire button enables a duplicate N64 Z
control. It is disabled by default. - The additional Fire button has its own saved position, scale, and opacity for
iPhone and iPad layouts. - Both Fire surfaces aggregate into one action: releasing either while the
other remains held keeps Fire active, and reset clears both safely. - The iPhone/iPad production bundle advances to version
0.1.0build8.
No renderer, audio, controller-routing, lifecycle, multiplayer, ROM, save, or
Mac runtime change is included.
Acceptance
- Focused primary/secondary/simultaneous Fire-state tests and complete input
matrix. - Signed production ARM64 build and complete ROM-free package audit.
- Two byte-identical unsigned IPA packaging passes.
- Explicit iOS 17 Metal deployment target retained throughout the payload.
- In-place physical iPad update with protected game data and preferences
preserved. - Hands-on physical iPad gameplay acceptance of the exact candidate.

The IPA is intentionally unsigned and contains no ROM, save, provisioning
profile, Apple signing identity, private build path, or generated source.
Known limitations
- Residual split-screen flicker and other graphical artifacting remain open.
- A12/A12X issue #9 remains unresolved.
- Issue #19's affected-device diagnostic succeeded; production-release reporter
confirmation remains pending. - Stable real Player 2 through Player 4 controller ownership and network
multiplayer remain incomplete. - Lifecycle, storage-hygiene, and reproducible private-input build proof remain
separate technical debt.
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 7
Preview 7 is a narrow iPhone/iPad compatibility release. Every embedded device and Simulator Metal library now targets iOS 17 explicitly, fixing the RT64 common-compute-pipeline failure confirmed in issue #19 without changing accepted gameplay, controls, ROM conversion, saves, audio, touch layouts, or renderer settings.
The production build passed an in-place physical iPad update with both ROM copies, active save, backup save, and preferences preserved byte for byte. Hands-on iPadOS gameplay and controller acceptance passed.
The coordinated native Apple-Silicon Mac Alpha is byte-identical to Preview 6. Its known limitations remain, including sluggish horizontal mouse turning and the thin far-right blue render edge.

The IPA is intentionally unsigned and contains no ROM or save data. Install it with AltStore Classic or another supported personal-signing workflow, then select your own original NTSC-U GoldenEye 007 retail dump. The Mac Alpha is arm64, ad-hoc signed, non-notarized, and remains below mobile release quality.
The separate A12X first-draw report in issue #9 remains open pending affected-hardware testing of this exact artifact.
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 6
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 6
Preview 6 repairs the macOS menu-navigation regression reported after Preview
3, preserves Preview 5's accepted mobile controls and automatic-fire cadence,
and replaces the unreliable iPad utility menu with four independent touch
targets.
What changed
- macOS menu screens again accept fluid WASD and trackpad/mouse navigation.
- macOS gameplay retains the Preview 3 relative mouse path, with a default
sensitivity of3.00and a focused1.30xincrease for ordinary on-foot
turning. Shift Aim and tank sensitivity are unchanged. - Holding Shift keeps the macOS Aim view where the player places it; the view
recenters only after Shift is released. - The iPhone/iPad utility overlay now owns four separate 48-point rows for
Return to Main Menu, Settings, Edit Touch Controls, and Share Diagnostics &
Logs. - Preview 5's shared 1.1 through 1.4 mappings, native controller Aim, tank
controls, controller sensitivity, and authentic automatic-fire repair are
retained.
Acceptance and verification
The user physically accepted macOS menu navigation, keyboard/mouse gameplay,
turning, and Shift Aim. On a physical iPad Pro, the user accepted the utility
menu both without and with a connected controller, then accepted controller
gameplay in Dam and Bunker with no observed control regression. These hands-on
checks do not prove every iPhone model, renderer path, long session, or open
crash report.
The complete input matrix, Preview 4 baseline guard, automatic-fire repair
gate, ROM-data audit, ARM64 builds, and both package verifiers pass. Two
independent packaging runs produced byte-identical archives.

The IPA is intentionally unsigned. The Mac Alpha is ad-hoc signed, ARM64-only,
and not notarized. Neither archive contains a ROM, save, provisioning profile,
Apple signing identity, or generated source.
Known limitations
- The A12X first-frame RT64/Metal crash in issue #9 and iPhone 13 mini shader
initialization crash in issue #19 do not have confirmed Preview 6 repairs.
Affected users should retry this exact build and attach the requested crash
and diagnostic evidence if the failure remains. - Known stage/effect rendering defects, including the Mac far-right edge issue,
remain separate work. - Local multiplayer controller ownership, lifecycle coverage, sustained
performance, and network multiplayer remain incomplete.
Preview 6 advances the iPhone/iPad production bundle to version 0.1.0 build
6. The native Mac Alpha remains version 0.1.0 build 1 with its separate
bundle identity.
GoldenPad Issue 19 Metal Target Test 1
GoldenPad Issue 19 Metal Target Test 1
This is a narrow, unsigned iPhone/iPad test build for issue #19. It is not
Preview 7 and does not include the separate A12/A10 renderer work.
The only runtime-targeted change is rebuilding RT64's embedded Metal libraries
for iOS 17 instead of the accidental iOS 26.5 target. The package verifier
confirms that the final executable contains only
air64_v26-apple-ios17.0.0 Metal libraries.
The app installs side-by-side as GoldenPad I19 Test using bundle identifier
com.chrissotraidis.goldenpad.issue19-test, version 0.1.0 build 7. It does not
replace Preview 6 or use its data container, so select your original supported
retail ROM again inside the test app. Do not upload the ROM, saves, signing
material, or provisioning profile when reporting results.
Please test on the issue #19 iPhone 13 mini running iOS 18.7.8 through:
- ROM selection and validation;
- RT64 initialization;
- title sequence and menus; and
- representative Dam gameplay, including audio and controls.
Attach a complete redacted .ips, relevant Console output, and GoldenPad
diagnostics if it still fails.

GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 5
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 5
Preview 5 fixes automatic player and guard weapons firing too quickly at
GoldenPad's native 60 Hz simulation rate. It retains Preview 4's accepted shared
controls, native Aim, Runway/Streets tank behavior, controller sensitivity, ROM
import, saves, renderer, audio, touch layouts, and Mac controls.
What changed
- Converts GoldenEye's positive automatic-fire intervals from original N64
frame cost to GoldenPad's native simulation cadence by multiplying the one
shared player/guard rate by three. - Leaves zero and negative firing classifications unchanged, preserving
semi-automatic weapons, first-shot behavior, bursts, damage, ammunition, and
weapon selection. - Keeps the repair inside GoldenEye's shared weapon-stat getter. There is no
separate iPhone, iPad, or Mac interpretation and no duplicated player/guard
policy. - Adds generated-patch stale-pair checks and a deterministic regression gate
covering positive automatic rates and unchanged nonpositive values. - Retains the default-off bounded diagnostic used to compare Preview 4 and the
candidate without writing game state.
Physical acceptance
Preview 4's physical iPad baseline fired a 20-round Phantom magazine in 58
simulation ticks, normalized to 34.4828 shots per 100 ticks. Preview 5 recorded
12 shots in a 100-tick window, ammo 20 to 8. That is the exact expected result
for the converted interval including the immediate first shot.
The user normally launched the side-by-side test app and accepted navigation,
movement, controls, general gameplay, and runtime quality with no observed
regression. The session advanced through 13,723 display lists, VI updates, and
presentations with zero audio drops and zero underrun frames or callbacks.
No complete candidate guard window or explicit PP7 sequence was captured in
that physical session. Guards use the same patched getter as the player, while
the unchanged nonpositive semi-automatic path is verified at source and in the
deterministic gate; this is not represented as separate physical evidence.

The automatic-fire repair is one independently revertible TD-01 commit on top
of the frozen Preview 4 baseline. Reverting it restores Preview 4 firing cadence
without removing Preview 4's accepted controls or tank repair.
Known limitations
- Issue #17 remains open until its reporter verifies the retained Runway tank
controls on Mac; Preview 5 does not reinterpret those accepted controls. - Local multiplayer remains experimental. Slight lighting flicker and real
Player 3 and Player 4 controller ownership remain open. - Online and peer-to-peer multiplayer are not implemented.
- Intermittent audio static, screenshot/background lifecycle behavior, A12X
compatibility issue #9, stage-specific rendering faults, and long-session
performance remain tracked technical debt. - The Mac Alpha retains the thin far-right blue edge and is not notarized.
Data and rights boundary
GoldenPad does not include, download, or redistribute GoldenEye 007, a ROM,
extracted retail assets, or saves. Users must supply their own supported
original retail dump. This is a source-available developer preview and is not
official, commercially licensed, App Store-cleared, or affiliated with
Nintendo, Rare, or MGM.

GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 4
GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 4
Preview 4 repairs the shared GoldenEye controller path and the mission tank
controls reported in issue #17. It keeps Preview 3's ROM import, saves, audio,
renderer, touch layouts, Mac keyboard and mouse commands, and experimental
multiplayer rendering boundaries.
Highlights
- Uses one shared controller mapping on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon Mac.
GoldenPad reads GoldenEye's active 1.1 Honey, 1.2 Solitaire, 1.3 Kissy, or
1.4 Goodnight style instead of applying a separate platform interpretation. - Preserves raw controller input outside live gameplay so the title screen,
mission menus, watch, and controller connection path do not inherit tank or
modern-look translation. - Restores GoldenEye's native manual-sight behavior while Aim is held: Bond is
stationary, the left stick moves the weapon and reticle, and the right stick
is neutral until Aim is released. - Repairs the player-enterable tank used by Runway and Streets. The left stick
owns drive and hull turning, the right stick owns turret aim after the native
hatch/start transition, and Fire operates only the currently selected weapon.
GoldenEye's authentic mounted weapon cycling remains available, including
ordinary weapons and Tank Shells. - Raises absolute external-controller right-stick response by the requested
final 20 percent, from 1.56 to 1.872 degrees per frame at full deflection.
Touch, mouse, native manual Aim, left-stick movement, and menus are unchanged. - Removes the obsolete separate movement-adapter setting. The active GoldenEye
control style is now reported automatically in Settings and diagnostics.

GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 3
Preview 3 is the accepted controls update for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon
Mac. It stays on Preview 2's accepted game, save, audio, and RT64/Metal
rendering foundation while improving how players configure and use controls.
Highlights
- Adds an opt-in Sidestep with left/right movement adapter for touch and
connected controllers during live single-player gameplay with GoldenEye's
1.1 Honey control style. Preview 2 movement remains the default, Original N64
C-button mode remains available, and menus plus experimental multiplayer keep
their established mappings. - Rewrites first-run and invalid-ROM setup copy in plain language. GoldenPad no
longer exposes the internalGoldenEye_TLBFREE.z64filename or implies that
the user's original file will be replaced. - Promotes the hands-on-accepted Mac control pass: WASD movement, relative mouse
look, left mouse Fire, right mouse Action, middle click or wheel weapon
cycling, Shift Aim, E Action, Q next weapon, R reload, C crouch, 1–9/0 owned
inventory selection, Escape pause, and Delete pointer release. Space is
unassigned. - Retains the accepted Preview 2 single-player, save/preferences, touch-layout,
Player 1 controller, in-app retail-ROM conversion, and experimental
split-screen rendering baselines.

GoldenPad 0.1.0 Preview 2
Preview 2 is the first coordinated GoldenPad update for iPhone, iPad and Apple
Silicon Mac. The iOS/iPadOS build remains the primary experience. The Mac build
is a separate Alpha artifact with explicitly lower acceptance.
Highlights
- Import your own original NTSC-U GoldenEye 007 retail dump from Files on first
launch. GoldenPad accepts.z64,.v64,.n64and.rombyte orders,
validates the exact revision, converts it privately on device and never adds
game data to the app or repository. - Tuned, editable iPhone and iPad touch layouts with drag, resize, per-control
opacity, reset, separate persisted profiles and accepted iPhone defaults. - Xbox/MFi Player 1 controls, remappable action buttons and automatic touch
overlay hiding when a controller is active. - Native N64, 2x and automatic high-resolution rendering, 2x MSAA and N64
three-point filtering through RT64 Metal. - A frozen experimental local-multiplayer render repair that removes the former
large black/checkerboard split-screen corruption on physical iPad. - Official GoldenPad project support for Apple Silicon macOS in Alpha status,
distributed as a separate native arm64GoldenPad.appwith the same app icon
and native Mac menus for settings and diagnostics.

The Mac app is arm64, ad-hoc signed and not notarized. It is a separate Alpha,
not a Catalyst build and not mobile-quality parity.
Known limitations
- Local multiplayer remains experimental. Slight lighting flicker and real
Player 3/4 controller routing remain open even though the former large
split-screen corruption is repaired in the frozen baseline. - The Mac Alpha has slow mouse tuning, a thin blue strip at the far-right render
edge and lower sustained-performance confidence than the mobile builds. - Screenshot/background resume has previously frozen gameplay and still needs
a dedicated physical lifecycle pass. - Occasional audio static and stage-specific geometry faults remain open.
- The generated AOT input pipeline is private and intentionally untracked, so
the complete primary runtime cannot be reproduced from the public checkout
alone.

Installation
The release asset is an unsigned IPA for iOS/iPadOS 17 or later. Re-sign it
with your own Apple development identity or trusted sideloading workflow.
No ROM, save, extracted retail asset, provisioning profile, or signing identity
is included. Preview 1 expects a compatible, user-derived
GoldenEye_TLBFREE.z64 in the app's Documents folder; copy it with Finder file
sharing after installation. There is no in-app retail-ROM conversion flow yet.
Known limitations
- Multiplayer is experimental and unstable. Split-screen flashing and match
instability remain open; single-player is the supported Preview 1 path. - Occasional audio static and stage-specific geometry issues remain under
investigation. - Graphics setting changes apply after fully quitting and reopening GoldenPad.
- This is an unofficial source-available developer preview. No official,
commercial, App Store, or rights-holder affiliation/clearance is claimed.
